(Whispering...) California....wake up...wake up California...California...
The destiny of the nation is in your hands. Don't make the wrong decision. Learn the facts before you vote. Do not allow yourselves to be led by false prophets or those that would take advantage of your naivete. The responsibility is yours. The nation looks nervously at your intentions. Are you a patriot or are you a follower of fads?

1. My eyes are wide open, kentuck
I know all about this recall, its origins, and its implications. That is why I am voting No/Bustamante.

6. California has a multitude of positive attributes! And one of them
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 05:47 PM by zidzi
is that they are very progressive and the front runner in Organic Farming and the Health Scene! That's one of the things I love about Cal. My Daughter was born there, too, so I'll always have a fondness in my heart for the long beautiful State!

We're rootin' for you Californians out here in New York!

3. Yes, since the screaming at them doesn't seem to be helping.
And the direct approach - plenty of proof the guy's a sexist moron - doesn't seem to be impacting his polls, either.

I just can't believe that they are probably going to elect that buffoon. It seems unthinkable.

5. It aint gonna happen Kentuck...
Take it from a fellow Kentuckian...I've been in Los Angeles
for twenty plus years- this is the fad factory.
A recent guest on a radio program here talked about
the fact that an independent survey among young hispanic
males showed an overwhelming number thought it would
be "cool" to have the Terminator as their governer.
They do not mean to be ignorant, but our educational
system here is very much in the clutches of the deilberate
dumbing down; this assures plenty of military recuits you know.
Our freeways and residential streets are swarming with
Humvees and leased monster trucks.
To fully comprehend what this signals is to
understand that there is an unspoken understanding in
So Cal that goes, "I are, my car"
This societal neurotic self obsession extends to our
government.
They will vote for Arnie.
Trust me.
They will consider the Terminator as Governer to be a projection
of themselves, and we more body building salons
than 7-11s.
It is ALL about image here.
We are the capital of delusional thinking.

13. It's like when 40% of people say that they are part of the top 3%
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 06:07 PM by StClone
In income or wealth.

People want to, or do, believe some mighty things about themselves that are hyperbole. And as you eloquently state, it's all about projecting -- Oz.

14. Those people won't go to the polls
I'm counting on it. I'll bet on it. Political participation in LA means wearing a pink ribbon on your Armani. they're not gonna vote and say they voted and tell kids to rock the vote.

17. Are you from California?
I am. I used to live in the LA area. I lived there for more than 30 years and liked it. I voted in every election since 1962. So far as I know, I have never seen an Armani suit. So far as I know. I don't know that voter participaton is any lower in LA than anywhere else. If this recall shit passes, it will be because Dems all over the state staid at home, when they should have taken the 30 minutes or so it takes to vote. So many people who probably have never been inside the city limits of LA have cutesy putesy descriptions of LA. There are 15 million people in that metropolitican area, too many to be reduced simple descriptions.

10. Here's a way to help make it happen
From moveon.org.

We're asking you to help fund a television ad devoted to putting Schwarzenegger's problem with women into the public eye. We need to raise at least $500,000 to make this happen.

http://www.moveonpac.org/moveonpac/viewcandidates.phtml#donate

We've seen how effective this organization can be. I'm making a donation. Anyone care to join me?

19. I don't think it's in the voters hands.

I think this election will be about as fair as the elections in 2000 and 2002-- meaning, pure outright theft. It worked before, why should these slimeballs stop now?
