He's on vacation in Wyoming, probably knee deep in a trout stream right this moment while poor brown people die in the streets of New Orleans.

Dick Cheney, George Bush, Michael Chertoff, and Michael "FEMA Fred" Brown were ALL AWOL while New Orleans drowned.

2. I think he's seriously ill
Rep. Rangel said something about it a couple of weeks ago.

4. He manages to get to fund raisers & the job didn't just come up Monday
If he has been too ill to do his job, he should've resigned and let someone else do it

3. thanks, Walt
Some say he is ill. Could be. But if he can't do his duties due to illness, he should have stepped down long ago. As I recall, he wasn't just appointed to the post when Katrina wrecked the Gulf Coast. It was some time ago. If he was too ill to take the job, maybe they should have given it to the Coast Guard officer who made that first decision to get his birds up to rescue people from the rising water.

Cheney seems to make it to fund raisers, mixing in enough 'official' business that the tax payers have to pick up his travel tab and local governments have to spend $$ for his security and traffic control for his travels.
