In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, I have heard a lot of slamming of the GOP, but WHERE IS THE DNC AND DEAN? Why hasn't Dr. Dean gone to the disaster areas? Millions of Americans have donated time and money to assist those caught in this unprecedented disaster in our southern states, and the Bush administration has more clearly than ever shown its ineptitude, its bigotry, and the ever present lack of compassion for the safety of our nation.
The time to act is now! Yes, this a horrible tragedy. Yes, this is about people in extremely dire need. This is also a total and complete disaster on the part of the Bush administration, its poor leadership, and the politicizing by them to withdraw funding to the New Orleans area because BushCo has driven our nation into such debt over a war that never should have happened. It has been willful in stripping our nation in meeting its infrastuctural and superstructural needs. This planned ineptitude, as well as the absolute hubris of a narcissistic president and cabinet, has put the needs of their own personal gains and agendas over the needs of our nation and its people. Where are our Democratic leaders, our Democratic public servants? We have been failed, not only by the arrogance of the Bush Plutocracy, but by almost all who are in public office, and the push to care more about the upcoming 2006 and 2008 elections have taken precedence over real leadership that is FOR the people.
It is time to act, both in meeting the needs and using all resources to assist the people in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. It is also time to politicize this disaster to begin the move to stop those in office, both Democratic and Republican, and bring forward and actively support those who are willing to truly represent our people, and who will act as public servants in the best interest of our nation.
It is a sad day in our nation when it takes a tragedy of this magnitude to exemplify the disastrous effects of poor leadership and ineptitude of those in high office. Yet, it is also the opportunity of a lifetime to go to ground and actively participate in rallying and organizing for the political strength-building to bring about real leadership, and to stop the political stranglehold of incompetency that has brought us to the precipice of a tipping point from which there may never be recovery.
I still hold hope for the Democratic party, and cherish the dream that the United States can make the move back to being a true democracy, but I also harbor grave doubts that we will ever have real leadership in this nation ever again. My nation is falling apart. My nation has failed its people.
We all have a stake in the future of the United States, more so now than ever. We must be united in this concept regardless of our diverse cultures and views; We, the people, are the nation.
