The GOP is on the road to self-destruction
It was reported on the news that the RNC is passing around a GOP fact sheet about how to attack Wilson and the Democrats.

These clowns at the RNC still don't get it. A FACT SHEET??? Attacking Wilson and the Dems?

They aren't up against the Dems. This isn't your standard political scandal. THIS IS ABOUT POTENTIAL TREASON. THIS IS ABOUT NATIONAL SECURITY. THEY ARE GOING UP AGAINST THE CIA!!!!! Do they think the CIA is going to back down because of a fact sheet? If anything, they will intensify their behind-the-scenes fight, while continuing to push things outwardly. Watch more and more "former CIA agents" coming forward to be interviewed about how bad the Plame Affair hurt things.

The CIA and their allies at State are not going to be intimidated by political spin and RNC talking points.

We are witnessing the first stages of the self-destruction of the Republican Party. It may take some time. But it looks more and more to me like the GOP has made a major, massive, and potentially fatal miscalculation. It's more than the White House against the CIA now. It looks like it is becoming the GOP vs. the CIA....and that, my friends, is a fight that only the CIA will win, even if it takes five years.

5. It already has hit Peoria
I live in central IL--- good, solid Repugnicrat territory--- and people here are either a.) flabbergasted, b.) outraged or c.) both. I have heard NO ONE 'rallying to the WH's defense', except in the most tepid of terms.

Note to *: When you lose Repugnicrat Middle America, you have a MAJOR problem!

6. The GOP always implodes...
it has, after each time of gaining power...blown it. Every time, without fail, they get tripped up in their own hubris.

This is, by far, the worst administration, ever.

7. it may take five years
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Bush may win in 2004. But the GOP and this White House have made too many enemies, enemies with the power to destroy them eventually. It may take until 2008, but eventually, unless the GOP tosses the scum overboard very, very soon, it will happen.

I pray (literally) for my country. These are very dangerous times right now.

8. There is conflict, to be sure, but it may not be quite so grave.
It's not really the WHOLE GOP against the WHOLE CIA. Basically, these two organizations are pretty much on the same side of things. They have common goals, interests, & world-views. Short-term, yes, there is a sharp conflict. But that hardly means it's total war, or that they won't be able to overcome the conflict & close ranks. Neither organization is remotely so deeply set against the other that they'd desire the other's destruction, or any sort of death struggle.
