Warning - unpleasant subject - the risk of terror
Despite, or actually, because of our Iraq and Afghanistan fiasco's, we do have real enemies out there. The Afghan Taliban is growing in strength (because Rummie screwed it up), Iraq has become a training ground for future terrorists, and in Malaysia and other Pacific areas, there is growing hatred for the US. Al Qaida replaces #3 men faster than we can allegedly "capture" them. (I think I have counted more than more than 20 #3s captured to date, with at least a dozen being subsequently released)

If you were a terrorist with plans to attack the US, when would you choose to act? How about now?

Events and reporters have already proven beyond a doubt that our FEMA and OHS are not just incompetent, but actually make things worse. They have no realistic plan to deal with disaster, they caused the deaths of untold hundreds of our citizens, and they claim success in the face of obvious failure.

If there is any attack, there is no reason to believe that FEMA, OHS or our administration would or could react any better than they have in New Orleans. To the contrary, every indication suggests that it would be the same or worse.

Unfortunately, I can see this administration "losing" us all constitutional rights should anything occur. Not only are we totally unprepared, our very liberties are very likely at serious risk.

1. Nope, there would be no need, they are seeing the bush administration
doing the job for them. They don't have to lift a finger, the bush cabal have terrorized the country from within.

3. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
Talk about swallowing Bush bullshit whole.

NO TERRORIST HAS EVER TAKEN OUT AN ENTIRE CITY.

So what if they attack? Can they match what Bush incompetence has done in New Orleans? Can they even come close?

Do you think bin Ladin hasn't pulled something here in 4 years because we're so good at stopping him? Or because he couldn't figure out how to top the WTC?

They don't need to attack. As proven by the recent deaths in Iraq, all they have to do is say Boo. But if they said Boo today, would you even get up?

NO ONE can hurt us as badly as we have just hurt ourselves.

We devoted all our resources to terrorism but terrorism is a fucking mosquito bite compared to what will happen with global warming. What HAS happened. And we ain't even slightly ready.

5. you are so right, except.
our OHS has not prevented anything; we have only wasted money, rewarded incompetents and made the Bushistas more powerful. I suspect that our MSM was cowed by the brilliant way

On the other hand, walk by Manhattan sometime. I believe that there are a couple of buildings still missing. We cannot ignore that our policies led to an attack on our soil. There are indications that our preparedness was horrific, and that warnings were not just ignored, but that there was willful ignorance at play, if not utter negligence of the NSC and the president's top advisors.

We DO have real enemies, and we would be foolish to ignore them. We also have to recognize that some of our enemies speak faux Texan. It is not swallowing bullshit whole to recognize that we have enemies. It is naive and foolish to ignore real threats. Are the identical to the ones promoted and concocted by Cheney et al? No. But, do they exist? of course. Have they attacked before? Duh.

My point is we have proven ourselves to be led by incompetents who are in charge of our security, our nation's safety and our recovery. What better time to create a problem for us elsewhere?

4. Clearly, this proves.......
.....any terror attack would paralyze this country. With all our resources being poured into one area for who knows how long, we are seeing how weak we can be during a crisis.

7. this kind of thinking actually pisses me off-
because it is just this kind of shit that will be USED to destroy any hope of a future we may still have-

The terrorists don't have to do squat- we are fucking ourselved straight to hell- and doing it so well that any friends we would ever sincerly have in the world will have nothing to do with us in the end-

If you've honestly thought that our present 'government' could or would do ANYTHING tangible- anything truly helpful in the case of a real disaster- you should kiss that daydream good-bye.

the people are the only hope left for america- average joes- folks who don't wait to be 'called up'- folks who refuse to be turned away from helping.

if bush gets away with this, i don't want to be here anymore... i won't be here anymore one way or another..... the 'terrorists' is like fighting the boogy man- it's like fighting the ocean- the weather- illness- we're NEVER gonna beat them by killing people we are afraid of ... why is that simple fact so hard for people to grasp??????

if you really fear 'terrorists' then, i really hope you get some help for anxiety, and i DO NOT mean this as a slight- or a dis- terror is going to find most of us in some way many times in our life- and we will NEVER prevent it- so we can walk around living in fear, or live, and deal with what comes when it comes as best we can.

please don't be offended- i've lived this lesson. shit is going to happen- no matter how well prepared we think we are-

sorry to be so blunt and unkind- i've just watched bush with his arms around two young women from Batton Rouge, and i felt like i was watching a live molestation of innocence....... dcomplete with the fucking fake tears.... i am so incredibly angry and outraged...... and you are taking the brunt of it.

sorry

this government is the biggest terror.

8. For national security, we need to demand the resignation...
of the Bush Administration...with the Kerry Administration taking over as an interim government until special elections are held.

I'm dead serious. The Black Caucus needs to come out with this demand in the coming days and the Dems need to back them.

Failure to do so will mean riots in and attacks on our cities.
