New Arnold Mudball! Producer of Pumping Iron has Hitler-lover quotes out
On ABC News (Jennings). Seems that Arnold made some very admiring remarks about Hitler, including that he'd LOOOOVE to have all that adulation himself.

Nasty nasty nasty stuff here and it's in a book proposal that seems to be all over the place. Watch for more.

They were really horrible. Not up at the website yet, and I am not going to pay for the video.

I thought they said it was a new book he was putting out?

now, that could just be a language thing (how hitler controlled the crowd or something), but it didn't sound good at all.

15. It's a book proposal by George Butler, the Pumping Iron producer
I googled but couldn't find further reference to these quotes YET. But if Jennings carried it, we should see much more in the press overnight. This isn't the kind of revelation that just goes to one media outlet.

This is HOT stuff at just the right time and NO RUSH to spin it! We may just terminate this campaign yet.

47. I bet that DUI thing
cost Bush 2 % of the vote. The exit polls showed a very weird thing in 2000. Last minute deciding voters voted for Gore. This is very unusual. Usually late deciding voters will vote for the challenger, the outsider. I'd credit that to the DUI story. That was an effective October Surprise.

Still, the best one in my opinion was the Independent Council indicting the Secretary of Defense three days before the election in 1992. That was a good one.

Here's an old link I found on Buzzflash that mentions it:

Flap swirls around Arnold's World War II flick

By Jeffrey Wells, Los Angeles Times
There was more to Arnold Schwarzenegger's threat to sue Esquire magazine over a tricked-up photo of him wearing a World War II German officer's uniform and giving a "sieg heil" salute than just a show of temper.
Sure, there was Schwarzenegger attorney Marty Singer telling New York Daily News columnist George Rush on Nov. 15: "My client has told me to file a lawsuit ... I don't think it's funny to be accused of being a Nazi." And, of course, there was Esquire editor Ed Kosner explaining that "we never said or implied that Arnold was a Nazi sympathizer," that "the art is plainly parody."

But this was talk around, not about, the echoes of this story.
The photo, appearing in Esquire's December issue (with Sylvester Stallone on the cover), is a mock movie poster of Mr. Schwarzenegger starring in a film called "Saturday Night Fuhrer." It illustrates a short piece by columnist Jeanette Walls about "With Wings as Eagles," an Arnold flick that's having trouble getting launched. The "Wings" script by Randall Wallace ("Braveheart"), written with Mr. Schwarzenegger in mind, is about an anti-Nazi German colonel who saves some Allied prisoners in the waning days of World War II.
Ms. Walls, quoting an unnamed source, writes that "a number of big-name directors" have turned down "Eagles" because "even though Arnold fights for the good guys, anything that casts a German officer in a good light makes people sort of queasy."

<snip>

Other allegations may be refloated, like the one Charles Fleming included in a March 1992 Spy magazine article -- confirmed, he wrote, by "a businessman and longtime friend of Schwarzenegger's" -- that in the '70s Arnold "enjoyed playing and giving away records of Hitler's speeches." There is also the allegation of Arnold's having said on-camera, during the filming of "Pumping Iron" (1977) by director George Butler, that he "admired" Hitler.

Oversexed Arnold Schwarzenegger Gets A handful Of British Talk Hosts!
"Riot Fuel" by Eightheadz, creator of 8BM.com During his promotional visit to Britain this week Arnold Schwarzenegger groped Denise Van Outen on the Big Breakfast and behaved in a similarly oversexed and over here fashion with a clearly panicked Melanie Sykes on ITV's Celebrity.

The Sun in England newspaper reports that Sykes was chatting with Arnold when, as cameras rolled, he grabbed her around the waist.
She pushed his hand away, saying: "Get your hands off me - I'm scared."

I don’t blame her. Any actor who excels at playing barbarians and robots and has trouble understanding English is not the kind of guy that I want to have to tell to get his hands off my ass.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: I'm da titty twister!

Arnold Schwarzenegger (December 11, 2000) If an incredible and amusing report coming out of the UK last week is true, we may finally know why Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger gets along so well with those randy Kennedy boys. According to British TV host Anna Richardson, the lecherous action star pulled her onto his knee at the end of an interview she was conducting with him, demanded to know if she'd had a boob job, then pinched one of her nipples.

It was a bit of a shock for the chesty host of the British television show Big Screen. She told the UK tabloid The Sun that the incident made her feel angry and embarrassed, but also a little helpless. "I wanted to say, 'You dirty bastard.' But you can’t tell a powerful man like him to fuck off."

"He kept saying how fantastic I looked and staring at my boobs," complained Richardson. "When I went to shake his hand he pulled me on to his knee, saying 'I really want to know if your breasts are real.'"
...Anna says she stood up then and told him "You’re making me nervous." But Arnold told her to relax and pulled her back on his knee. Finally, he let her up, and according to Anna, "patted my bum as I went off."

A TV insider who was among seven other people present for the interview backed up Anna’s claims: "Everyone was in shock. He appeared obsessed with Anna’s boobs." But Arnold's UK spokesman shrugged it off, telling The Sun, "I don’t know anything about this particular incident but Arnie is a big flirt, as is Anna.

That may be the case, but it's a hell of a way to charm a babe, and Arnold is a married man. So no one can say for sure if there will be any further repercussions, but given Anna's embarrassment and anger over the incident, this could well be the one time that Arnold won't be back.

20. I don't understand
what's wrong with wanting the adulation that Hitler received? That doesn't necessarily mean that you want to slaughter Jews.

Am I the only person here against this type of smear campaigning? Can't you judge the man on his loathsome politics and doing Karl Rove's work? This is like the "Robert Byrd is a Klansman" propaganda we get from FOX.

About the recall: I think it can be won. If Schwarzenegger keeps getting portrayed as the definite winner on the news, wouldn't that motivate more Democrats to vote and less Republicans? Or is that not so?

27. It's the whole quote which is disturbing
He didn't just say that he wanted the adulation that Hitler recieved, he said (and I'm paraphrasing here) he admired the way Hitler got adulation and what he did with it.

Now, it could just be semantics, but setting aside the whole issue of slaughtering Jews that ought to be really disturbing to anyone who values democracy. This is really no different in my eyes than Chimpy saying he wants to be a dictator. Same shit, different asshole.

This isn't smear campaigning, IMO. The difference between this and "Robert Byrd is a Klansman" is that, while Byrd has repudiated his past and sincerely tried to make amends for it, Arnold is still the same pig he's always been. There's no shame in pointing that out--in fact, it should have been done years ago instead of when he decided to hijack the governor's mansion like in one of his shitty movies.

38. "PC attacks"?
How is pointing out the fact that someone admires a fascist butcher a "PC attack"? Sure, there's no involvement with skinheads that we know of. That doesn't make what he said any less terrible. Hell, we don't have any proof Trent Lott was running around with a white hood either, but that doesn't make him any less a racist.

I don't get the disconnect. This is a political issue. The guy basically said he admired the way a nefarious historical figure manipulated people into doing his bidding. If that's not commentary on the way he's a) been running his campaign and b) the way he plans to run California, then I don't know what is.

And for the record, this doesn't "make me feel better". It makes me sick to my stomach that this asshole is very close to becoming the person who gets to run a government that serves an awful lot of people.

Here's the problem. We're not talking about astrology, or liking German Shephards, or preferring a brand of ice cream, or anything like that. We're talking about something that has direct relevance to his views on political leadership. He admires someone because he had authoritarian control over the populace. I would think that has some bearing on his fitness to be governor. YMMV, of course.

If it seems so, it's because I get nervous when people talk down to me like I'm a two-year-old. Call it a consequence of being a drop-out and being told my opinions don't matter because I don't have fancy initials after my name.

As I said in a previous post, he didn't just admire Hitler's speaking ability, he admired what he did with it. I think there's a distinct difference. As I also said, it could very well be semantics. If that's what it turns out to be--fine, then the issue doesn't matter. If it were anyone else, I would probably give him the benefit of the doubt. However, this is the same person who has used his power and personal influence to get away with assaulting women and doing god only knows what else.

50. "what he did with it"
I think that's worthy of a question to ask him what he meant by that.

I bet the answer would be something like he admired how an uneducated man with no money or connections took just his talents as a speaker and rose to lead a powerful nation.

I'd be surprised if he said he admired Hitler because he took his gifts as a speaker and was able to murder millions of people.

I mean the man has been involved with the Wiesenthal Center for years and years and has donated at least hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars to their efforts. That doesn't seem like something a Nazi supporter would do.

That sounds pretty extreme. In any case, I think personal, private opinions should be kept out of politics. I can't judge him based on his pro-Hitler upbringing, but I can judge him on his anti-worker politics. Bringing up things like this makes it look like his having a pathological hatred for the worker isn't important.

Many Americans, including maybe some on this board I'm sure, would frown on my admiration for Robespierre. I even support what Robespierre did, but that doesn't mean I want to kill aristocrats.

I don't know if I'm successfully explaining this.

33. Yes, he did say that
Unfortunately the abcnews.com transcript isn't up so I can't point to it.

I understand where you're coming from, and I can agree that we need to focus on the issues. Where I would disagree though is the notion that personal, private opinions should be kept out of politics. Maybe it's just the feminist in me talking, but I firmly believe in the idea that the personal is the political. I don't think a person's political views are developed in a vacuum.

In fact I think there's a direct correlation between the private views a person holds and their position on various issues. Just look at neocons. You could say that a winger's homophobia is a private, personal opinion, but it's not really a stretch to see why that same winger would be against stuff like ENDA or civil unions.

31. I am taking your question seriously.
"what's wrong with wanting the adulation that Hitler received? That doesn't necessarily mean that you want to slaughter Jews."

The reality is that Hitler used his skills to appeal to the LOWEST common denominator of an economically stressed people. The adulation he received was a result of dumbing down the citizens, state controlled media, contrived attacks and then offering them a scapegoat upon whom they could vent their frustrations with impunity, all the while feeding them messages of their "superiority." If you can look at this process clearly, and perhaps read the PNAC documents, you will see that it has, in the bigger picture, nothing to do with "Jews" per se. What it's REALLY about is a corrupt authoritarian CONTROL.

Arnie has done a marvelous job of "smearing" himself all by himself. He is a control freak. Look at pictures of Maria Shriver 15 years ago and then check out a current one. THEN read her comments to the rape victim she interviewed and tell me your nose does not pick up the stench...

Please see my post above. Do you think for a moment that if you are raised in a family that has entrenched attitudes about the "other" that you will emerge untouched by those attitudes?

Arnold can say he's pro this and that, without ANY backup, voting record or track record other than his racist comments to other bodybuilders, friendships and relationships to BONA-FIDE NAZIS, a well-documented disrespect for women, marriage ties and coterie of right-wing assholes whose histories any infomed person knows well. He has NO QUALIFICATIONS for public office. Not even class president in high school.

WHITE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION, ANYONE?????

43. Smearing has been all that Arnold has done
And frankly, a large percentage of that 2% of American voters who are Jewish live in California.

Arnold has made these statements. Invited Kurt Waldheim, a nazi, to his wedding and to the amazement of the Jewish community present, toasted Waldheim at his wedding after Waldheim did not appear so as to not spoil the party.

He made contributions to the Simon Weisenthal center for the sole opportunity to have his past whitewashed and now his own statements are coming back on him.

When seen in context, this is not one act but many.

How many times should this guy get to rearrange his past to suit his thirst for power?

51. I think it says something different - about how strong his desire
for pure adoration is - that he (when younger) could over look the complete evil of Hitler and his actions and admire that loving admiration. I believe the suggestion (and maybe a quote) was about it not mattering what Hitler said - they were cheering and completely behind him.

THAT is scary. And I think it goes beyond the usual megalomania that is present in many politicians.

is interpersonally exploitive, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends;

lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others;

is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her;

shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes.

All this adds up to what is called Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

59. Rings pretty solid
in regards to his groping incidents, I earlier today refered to his "entitlement perspective of women as meat". Seems to be a 30+ year pattern. No one should expect that it would change. So putting him in the governors mansion ensures that a number of young female staffers are going to be subjected to some sexual harassment. And he will feel entitled to do so. Fits with a part of the description you list.

Add the megolamania - that allows him to include Hitler (when he was age 25ish) as a "hero" for the adoration - and ignore balancing the evil that was present and how he used that adoration for great evil - and you have one scary dude.

Yes lets elect narissists for all high offices.

58. So what's the alternative - play nice as we've been doing and lose even
more offices?

Seems the repukes style is the way to go - winning is EVERYTHING - IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME we found our balls/ovaries!

And long overdue.

23. Just say no to the Terminator/Governbanger!!
24 Sep 2003 During the only televised gubernatorial debate that Schwarzenegger agreed to appear in, he curtly informs accentually-challenged candidate Arianna Huffington that she could use "more decaf".
30 Sep 2003 "These two guys come up and they just start questioning me, with very intrusive questions about Arnold Schwarzenegger. They look like FBI agents, but they’re from the Los Angeles Times." Heidi Fleiss, convicted Hollywood Madam. (Celebrity Justice magazine, a Time/Warner publication)
1 Oct 2003 The Los Angeles Times reports that six women have come forward with allegations of sexual impropriety against Arnold Schwarzenegger. The allegations range from unexpected groping of breasts to unexpected groping of buttocks. More interesting are the pick-up lines Arnold allegedly used on one of the women, "We could have a lot of fun in half an hour." An encounter days later, same woman, the line had evolved to "Now you will come to my apartment."
2 Oct 2003 "So I want to say to you, yes, that I have behaved badly sometimes. Yes, it is true that I was on rowdy movie sets and I have done things that were not right which I thought then was playful but now I recognize that I have offended people. And to those people that I have offended, I want to say to them I am deeply sorry about that and I apologize because this is not what I'm trying to do. When I am governor I will prove to women that I will be a champion for women. I hope you will give me the chance to prove this." Campaign stop, San Diego.

29. Got the link!
It's toward the end of the article:

http://abcnews.go.com/wire/Politics/ap20031002_1851.html

‘I Admired Hitler’

Yet even as he tried to put out that fire, another broke out.

ABCNEWS obtained a copy of an unpublished book proposal with quotes from a verbatim transcript of an interview Schwarzenegger gave in 1975 while making the film Pumping Iron.

Asked who his heroes are, he answered, "I admired Hitler, for instance, because he came from being a little man with almost no formal education, up to power. I admire him for being such a good public speaker and for what he did with it."

He is quoted as saying he wished he could have an experience, "like Hitler in the Nuremberg stadium. And have all those people scream at you and just being total agreement whatever you say."

The author of the book proposal, Pumping Iron's director, George Butler, told ABCNEWS today that the quotes needed to be seen in context, and that Arnold never said anything anti-Semitic.

"I cannot remember any of these," Schwarzenegger told ABCNEWS. "All I can tell you is that I despise everything Hitler stood for. I despise everything the Nazis stood for, everything the Third Reich stood for."

In the final days of his campaign, Schwarzenegger may be battling yet another opponent: his own past.

I'm REALLY tempted to say "Now I've heard everything". This would be called the Everything But The Kitchen Sink school of political suicide in the real world.

On edit- Maybe this is the guy OJ's been looking for?

Arnold has been seen at Little League games engaging in hortatory activities.

He admits masticating up to twenty times a day, every day.

Before running for governor, he was an admitted thespian, and performed his act in front of paying customers.

His neighbors charge he perambulated his two year old son right on the sidewalk during daylight.

He admitted getting a 13 year old girl to do philately with him in private.

While he was outside the territorial waters of the USA, he was still on a boat with an American flag when he was caught committing a piscatorial act with a member of his own sex.

He once smoked dope with family members, and all agree the party ended with incense.

With apologies to Mad Magazine from about 30 years ago. I wish I remember more of it. I remember using these lines on teachers for years.
