From FReeperland (I don't do this often, but... take a look)
<snip>

The primitive howling of the left has only begun, and it is the obligation of conservatives to tell them to shut up, abandon blame, accept the bad luck of Katrina, and get to work along with other Americans to help however they can.

So here’s a confession. Anyone’s heart has to go out to the folks you see on television who have lost everything they possess – but the person my heart goes out the most to is George W. Bush.

No president in modern memory has been subjected to more calumny, lies, and slander than him. After the Democrats do everything they can to steal his election in 2000 then have the brass to claim he stole it from them, eight months into his first term there is the worst terrorist attack in the nation’s history, and he has to wage a war against an enemy of insanely depraved evil.

He does so with incredible determination and fortitude, and is hated and vilified for it.

Then in his second term there is the worst natural disaster in US history. Either one would be an extraordinary historical challenge for a president. Only a man of enormous faith and ability could be willing and able to take one on. To ask him to take on both is asking him to be superhuman.

He is not, of course, but we are asking him to be. All we can offer in return is our gratitude. And our contempt for New York Times-Moveon.org-Cindy Sheehan America-hating scum.

Actually, we could give President Bush a lot more than gratitude. We could encourage him to seize the opportunity the tragedy of Katrina provides to achieve true energy independence for America.

Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 01:35 PM by VogonGlory
<<but the person my heart goes out the most to is George W. Bush.

If anyone had any doubts as to just how out-of-touch the Freeperstanis are, I think this quote shows all but the hopelessly clueless. Does the little Freeper remember what was said of former president William Jefferson Clinton just a few years ago? Or former president James Earl Carter before him? Or even of former president Harry S. Truman and the great Franklin D. Roosevelt before that?

Or was the little Freeperstani hiding his face in his turban or her head in her all-shrouding red-white-and-blue burqua?

26. You are all so wrong
clearly, this person was joking.
There are so many clues. First, the claim that Bush almost had the election stolen from him. See, this is funny. Bush lost the popular vote. So, there's a clue.
Then, the Bush as ultimate victim of lies and slander. Another clue. Clearly, Clinton holds the lead there. Afterall, we taxpayers paid millions to investigate Whitewater and Monica. For no purpose.
Also, a man of faith and ability. OK. That's the kicker.
He's clearly playing with us.
Incredibile determination and fortitude.
The man just got to the scene of the most horrific natural disaster in our nation's history....4 days late. After strumming the guitar at fundraisers.
Gotta be satire.
No one is this deluded.

40. Pure insanity!
Our "howling" is demanding Bush do his responsibility, instead of eating cake and strumming his guitar. NO has been swamped, its people are in need, and Bush has done NOTHING. He even CUT funds that would've saved lives from the NO protection.

No President since Taft has spewed more filth, incompetence, lies, negligence and horrible actions than Bush has. He STOLE the presidency in 2000, and then ignored warnings of a terrorist attack, he NEVER HELD ONE COUNTER-TERRORIST MEETING BEFORE THE ATTACKS. After this, he hides out until the coast is clear, and then jumps on the pile of rubble proclaiming that he is the nation's savior. Next, he fails to hurt al Qaida significantly, and especially fails to capture Osama bin Laden. Next, he invades a country that had nothing to do with anything (NO WMD'S, NO terrorism connections, no liberation, etc...), murders countless people in the process (100,000 civilians; 80,000 military personnel who would have never had to fight us if WE NEVER INVADED), destroys an entire country and attempts to oppress them under America's imperialist thumb. This, in turn, HELPS terrorist organization, with newfound anti-Americanism in the Arab world, terrorism skyrockets.

He does all this with incredible idiocy and folly, unmatched by any other leader since Custer.

Now, during Katrina, he does NOTHING while people die.

Failing so badly in either tasks would be difficult for a president with half a brain. To ask him to do something well and efficiently is asking him to have a shred of responsibility and perhaps the slightest bit of worth. He has neither, of course.
