1. Yep.. This is going to kick off a depression, which will make it
even harder for the survivors to start over.

7. You're saying what will happen plainly and bluntly.
I don't believe you're writing blithely. You're speaking what all of us know and fear.

6. I'm very worried...
I just took a job that has me traveling via car a lot. I don't know if I can afford the gas to even get to my work.

4. 500,000 Jobs Gone...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/thenewswire/#a006667

Now dare I venture into the on-going oil price mess and drag that's having on the economy? The developing gasoline and fuel-oil shortages? The months it will take for those refineries to get back "online"? The laundry list of the short-term is astounding...and that's not taking into account the toxic mess that now sits underneath all that water in New Orleans.

Last night, someone on WWL Radio asked if they knew the status of the Mississippi south of New Orleans...the area that contains many of the docking facilities. The response was "the southern two parishes no longer exist...it's all part of the Gulf now".

This nightmare has yet to show it's true impact...

5. My favorite bread went up fifty cents this week.
It was $2.99 for a loaf of spelt bread at my store. I went shopping two days ago and it had gone up to $3.49.

It's only the beginning. Batten the hatches, and tighten your belts.

9. Thank god this wasn't a terrorist attack
then not only would we be having all these problems because of the complete failure of the Federal Government to do anything. Bush would be too busy getting ready to turn Iran or Syria into glass to even bother with today's photo op.
