Randi is going off about some guest on the Rachel Maddow
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 02:29 PM by Prodemsouth
show-blasting her. Said some lady hawking a book blaming Mayor of LA and Governor of NO for disaster. Said she was embarrassed she was let on AAR. What happened did anyone hear this woman, Randi is talking about. I heard someone who I thought was a guy from Greenville, then Rachel said "she" when she finished talking to what I thought was just a caller. Was not paying much attention to what the person was saying.

3. Who was that- Rachel spoke to her as if she knew her.

I wasn't listening really paying attention. Rachel sounded casual and freindly so I assumed it was not a Bush defender.

Julia Reed is her name.

Claimed the Mayor should have "calmly" stated the problems in NO instead of "lackadasically" stating the problems on Monday. :wtf:

And then went on to say that his emotional interview from today was just "political posturing".

It was obvious the bitch had it in for the mayor no matter how he reacted. VERY reminiscent of the kneejerk way rethugs act about Clinton.

8. Yep, she was obviously making a talking point.
No matter what Rachel said she brought it back to the mayor. She took a shot at the looters too, downplaying the victims and playing up the thugs.

7. Rachel explained why she held back later in the show.
Maddow said she didnt want to start a knock down drag out fight with someone who was so personally effected by the disaster.

The question I want answered is why she was on the air in the first place.

12. Julia Reed, Vogue Senior Writer and Friend of Bush
http://mediamatters.org/items/200506130004?is_gsa=1&final=1
Panelists on Chris Matthews Show served up anti-Democrat rhetoric

In the course of criticizing Dean, Reed referred to Republicans as "our side." Reed has written a profile of President Bush's daughters for the August 2004 issue of Vogue and has described herself as an "acquaintance of the family":

REED: I think, when he said this is just a diversion to keep from talking about the issues, but he's making himself a diversion. No one in America knows who Ken Mehlman is -- he's chairman of the RNC -- because he's quietly running around raising money. Howard Dean is going to raise money for the Republicans if he keeps on talking like this -- I mean, he's igniting the base on our side -- I mean, on the Republican side.

Reed also contributed to the attacks on Clinton, referring to allegations of "Clinton White House abuses":

REED: I found a quote that was even more damning -- she said there had never been an administration in the history of this country that was more intent on abusing power. Well, I think in a week where we've got a new book about the Clinton White House abuses and when Deep Throat was revealed that it's a remarkable statement.

Reed was apparently referring to one of two books: The Survivor: Bill Clinton in the White House (Random House, May 2005) by John F. Harris or Edward Klein's forthcoming attack book The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President (Sentinel, June 2005).

13. There was a bad guest on Majority report last night...
...the NO newspaper guy who wrote the series about the levee and the flood threat, who sounded bogus as well.

He basically said that the Bush funding cuts to the Corps of Engineers and the levee project made no difference, and that meaningful construction would have needed to begin 30 YEARS AGO!

The guy had a smug, "I'm putting one over on you" tone to his voice that made me think that Sam had been set up - that this guy was planted to absolve the Bush administration, rather than to discuss the issue.

It almost seems as though there's a concerted effort to get these apologists on AAR, in order to bolster their (the apologists') credibility or something.

14. Kept screaming...Get her off!
I love Rachel, but I couldn't believe she let her have a whole segment to trash NO mayor...said he was shamelessly political-posturing...that he hadn't asked for aid...that it was his fault. She also trashed the residents of the community...and said every cliched racist beliefs of large segments of people who are terrified of the poor.

Maybe its a good thing because callers began to show up on all AAR talk shows saying the same thing.

Amazing...and very, very sickening. And fritening.
