I just heard it on MSNBC. They all need help. The reason more airtime is being shown for NOLA residents is because there are so many. Slidell and other areas are more laid out.

1. I've been waiting to hear news about the small towns too.

I have many friends in Louisiana, and they live in places like Houma and Belle Chasse, small burgs that were hit just as hard, have no electricity or phones. I'm not sure if some of the people I know are OK, because no one has heard from them.

The 360 guy (typing quick, brain won't work) was asked why they weren't covering these towns. His answer? "Because it took them 5 hours for goodness sake to get to NO from Philadelphia, they can't go every where!"

3. The same thing happened in SC after Hugo hit in 1989

Charleston received all the coverage, the Myrtle Beach area came in next. However, the city of Sumter which is smaller and poorer, was hit really hard but was virtually ignored; they did not even receive any National Guard assistance.

4. My in-laws are in Lacambe just west of Slidell.

They are cut off from contact with the outside world and no one can come into the area. Their houses didn't get flooded but did have tree damage. That's all we know since Tuesday. They got a "we're OK" message out via ham radio and Ryan was able to drive to Baton Rouge on Friday all call gis sister in KY from a payphone. House has trees on roof. No electric or phone or cable for 6-8 weeks. tens of thousands of trees down and uprooted.
:( We keep waiting for more word. They have a generator but we have no idea how much fuel if any they can get.

The I-10twin span bridge over the lake is gone and only emergency vehicles can traverse the 24 mile causeway across the lake.

Something is very wrong or maybe just no one cares and they're working on their own with city and Parish officials and staff.
