Subject: My Hurricane Story -- forgotten and left behind in new orleans convention center

Story: Stranded in convention center on second level. No water and food provided to people as promised. Water that was available was given to babies and elderly. Some have been here for more than four days. Tried to leave to find water and was forced by gun point to return inside the building. People are dying here. Please come and rescue us from here. Children are being raped and shooting is going on in the area. It is like a war zone.

7. NOMINATED.
It's hard to nominate something so horrific to something called the "Greatest" page, but this is an important resource that needs to be disseminated.

8. There's a woman offering her car to anyone that needs it....
Car available Uptown
3:30 pm
Name: Anne Rolfes

Subject: My Hurricane Story -- Car may be available uptown
Story: Hello to anyone and everyone -

I don't know if my car is underwater, but since it's uptown there's a good chance it isn't.

It is unlocked with a key under the mat - a red corolla at 507 Cherokee Street and St. Charles. It's in a drive way. If anyone needs it to get out, please go there!! My phone number is (337) 349 - 7661. There is a trunk in the back seat - throw it out and fit as many people as you can!

The car has a spare on it, so if you make it to the highway, don't go too fast.

It made me cry for some reason....

18. I forwarded this to a friend who's brother is stuck there...
they have gotten only a phone message from him and are hoping he calls again. It's a longshot damn he is in a place where longshots might be the only shots. PLEASE THINK GOOD THOUGHTS FOR HIM! His name is Barry Cowsill -- he was a member of the Cowsills, the 60's family singing group? A talented and sweet person. God bless him. They found Fats yesterday and I thought: maybe God looks after musicians. God I hope so. We think we saw him in a CNN crowd shot yesterday. Good thoughts please.

11. See also the INCREDIBLE blog at WWL-TV
http://www.wwltv.com/local/stories/WWLBLOG.ac3fcea.html

This is pure journalism; incredible items of survival and tragedy coming in almost minute by minute from people out in the streets and elsewhere. Come back to it often because it is updated constantly.

16. I want to drive down there and help them myself!!!
This is so outrageous and awful!!!

I am sorry to be so negative, but the first thing I though of, after reading this is---How many others are trapped and suffering with no way to communicate there whereabouts????

The people who are able to communicate with the outside world are lucky and probably in a tiny minority!

I almost get sick when I think of people trapped in the rafters of their homes, with water up to their neck. I can't imagine a more horrific, living nightmare.

I feel so helpless and so compelled to pile anyone (neighbors, friends, family) and drive down and find these people.

This is so awful!!!!
