Why You Don't Ratfuck The CIA, 101.
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 06:45 PM by frank frankly
Lesson One: If there is going to be ratfucking in a relationship involving the CIA, it will be the CIA that is performing the ratfucking, not you.

Lesson Two: The CIA runs the media.

Lesson Three: Uh, nothing else to add to that, really.

Exhibit A: Rush Limbaugh. First, a shot in the gut by his very forced resignation, followed by a shot to the back of the head in the form of prison for rampant drug aduse.

Exhibit B: Arnold SSwatzenegger. Network coverage "suddenly" of his well-known molesting of women, followed immediately by network coverage of his well-known, and quite melancholy Nazi musings.

Exhibit C: Tricky Dick Cheney. Developing, but he will be gone by the end of this year, 2004.

Exhibit D: George W. Bush. WILL NOT RUN IN 2004.

1. I always thought
that the only reason the CIA outing came out now was because the CIA was ticked off from the accumulated abuse and stupidity of the Bush Administration. If anyone heard Talk of the Nation yesterday, there was a retired spook on who made it abundantly clear that he didn't appreciate the abuse heaped on the CIA by BushCo. I have no doubt that the CIA can and probably will cause the GOPs some grief right now.

2. Thanks, frank frankly, but you didn't use "ratfuck" ENOUGH!
And I'd love to believe you're right about Exhibits C and D, but I can't quite make the leap from B to C-D yet. This administration is like Hitler's well-oiled Nazi machine. I'm afraid we're just seeing a burp, a little fart here or there, not a gen-u-wine ratfucking!

(Nevertheless, I totally agree with you about the CIA. Bush has fucked them over at his own peril. Wander what daddy Bush is thinking?)

After all, two years from now on October 2, I will have forgotten Pigboy's face.

It is a day of transcendence.

26. Apparently, ratfucking can become addictive
You think you're just going to pop in for a little bit of light ratfucking, and next thing you know, you wake up dizzy and hungover in a bed full of bloody rats.

10. Exhibit AA - Office of Special Plans
Never try to run a shadow opertion of another shadow operation.

Julian Borger lays it out just perfectly and should be required supplemental reading.

According to former Bush officials, all defence and intelligence sources, senior administration figures created a shadow agency of Pentagon analysts staffed mainly by ideological amateurs to compete with the CIA and its military counterpart, the Defence Intelligence Agency.

The agency, called the Office of Special Plans (OSP), was set up by the defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, to second-guess CIA information and operated under the patronage of hardline conservatives in the top rungs of the administration, the Pentagon and at the White House, including Vice-President Dick Cheney.

The ideologically driven network functioned like a shadow government, much of it off the official payroll and beyond congressional oversight. But it proved powerful enough to prevail in a struggle with the State Department and the CIA by establishing a justification for war.

Mr Tenet has officially taken responsibility for the president's unsubstantiated claim in January that Saddam Hussein's regime had been trying to buy uranium in Africa, but he also said his agency was under pressure to justify a war that the administration had already decided on.

How much Mr Tenet reveals of where that pressure was coming from could have lasting political fallout for Mr Bush and his re-election prospects, which only a few weeks ago seemed impregnable. As more Americans die in Iraq and the reasons for the war are revealed, his victory in 2004 no longer looks like a foregone conclusion.

21. Yes, Tenet took resp for the SOTU and did allude to the WH pressure
and when Tenet did that (alluded to WH pressure to 'find' evidence of nukes in Iraq), he was giving Bush/Cheney/Rove one last chance to take the fall on their own damn sword.

But the arrogant bastards* didn't take the hint a couple of months ago. And I think the media and congress (and even the dems in congress) would have let the Niger thing sink like always.

the CIA gave them the opportunity to fix things. And, I agree, all of this "good bad news" is CIA induced. and it makes me so happy.

I never thought of it. OF COURSE that transcript where Arnold praises Hitler as a personal hero came from the CIA. The CIA would have something like that on record for any high profile son of a Nazi, then immigrant to the USA. The CIA doesn't really care which side of the fence you are on, but they hold onto that crap just in case they (a) need to get a nazi sympathizer for a special project; or (b) to take down that nazi sympathizer.

OMFG - NBC nightly news is quoting the ENTIRE quote about Hitler.

Yep, Arnold as gov would have helped Bush take the WH again in 2004. Bush really shouldn't piss the CIA off.

ooooo, now they are talking about Limbaugh. "tapes are in the hand of law enforcement now."

Cheers to us all!

Impeachment won't happen, it's taken far too long to get where we are and that's to big a jump. Cheney's damaged goods, it's getting out, he's headed for retirement, you know, it's the heart trouble thing.;)

18. Bush doesn't have the legs for this
Clinton probably worked until midnight January 2.

Bush is lazy. He still drinks, he did a lot of blow, and he's dumb.

He can't handle the rigors of this.

20. He may not be able to handle the rigors. Why do you think he has flunkies?
Certainly not for advice on policies.

But, he, guys and gals, is sneaky. VERRRRRY sneaky. Was rereading Bush Dislexicon last night, and he says not to 'misunderstimate' Bush because he is stupid. He's sneaky.

So I'm MAKING PLANS to bring him and my local repug Congressman down in the next election.

IMHO, Rummy and Cheney ought to go first because of disconnection with reality. They're mad, both of them.

23. Bush is cracking up. Made a big JOKE at a hispanic celebration today-
"It's important to have a good ABOGADO" (that's spanish for lawyer)

And then goofily says, "And I've got a GOOD Abogado."

Everyone laughed, nervously. Guffaw!

25. Shrub needs to be careful...
I'd seriously hope he stays off planes and out of places like Dealey Plaza.

I realize that might be taken as an ominous thing to say, and I do not intend for it to be. I wish no physical harm to Shrub, but this is one group of folks who can make planes go down and make stuff happen in book depostitories--and he's pissed them off.

I don't think it will matter if he WANTS to run again. The CIA can make stuff happen...

I feel sorry as hell for the guys who have the job of protecting him.
