7. Don't you have competitive tendering laws in the US?
How does the taxpayer know that the available budget is being "maximised", if you just give the work to Halliburton?

CEO Dick Cheney's company, Halliburton is going to make bank and they will rebuild for RICH, WHITE PEOPLE, not the poor blacks who are displaced.

23. Right. Waiting for revolution, at this stage of the game. They are simply
not listening to petitions; TV ads; legal, nonviolent protests; boycotts; calling our congresspeople, etc.. All of those tactics have failed. It is time to take (back) what is OURS, namely our GOVERNMENT.

P.S. Don't forget the two STOLEN ELECTIONS, either. 'Voting' does not WORK.

22. "It was the largest one-time cash transfer in the history of the NY Fed."
It was the largest one-time cash transfer in the history of the New York Fed. It weighed 28 tons and took up as much room as 74 washing machines. It was $2.4 billion in $100 bills, and Baghdad needed it ASAP. The initial request from U.S. officials in charge of Iraq required the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to decide whether it could open its vault on a Sunday, a day banks aren't usually open... The $2,401,600,000 was delivered to Baghdad on June 22, 2004. It was the largest one-time cash transfer in the history of the New York Fed.

Nothing to see here, move along, there are a lot of bright shiny objects elsewhere.

Halliburton hired for storm cleanup
The Navy has hired Houston-based Halliburton Co. to restore electric power, repair roofs and remove debris at three naval facilities in Mississippi damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Halliburton subsidiary KBR will also perform damage assessments at other naval installations in New Orleans as soon as it is safe to do so.

KBR was assigned the work under a "construction capabilities" contract awarded in 2004 after a competitive bidding process. The company is not involved in the Army Corps of Engineers' effort to repair New Orleans' levees.

37. Yeah... I don't believe that... AND it doesn't explain Halliburton
getting THIS contract NOW. They cleverly added the KBR thing to insinuate that the Halliburton contract was also negotiated back in 2004. It wasn't.

Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 06:07 PM by Ms. Clio
I'm saying that you would think it would look bad politically to have Halliburton do this, but these people obviously don't care about that.

Yeah, sure, we'll demand to see the contracts. Good luck with that.
