restrictions on wetlands development will now turn NO into another Miami Beach or Las Vegas. The evacuees have no hope of ever returning home. So sad how these big money interest capitalize on 9/11 and natural disasters.

11. If the people they evacuated to Texas couldn't get out of NO
because they didn't have the means, how in the HELL are they suppose to get back to their homes or what's left of them, when they have no jobs, after being stuck in Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas for months? I was at first happy they were bring them to Texas just to get them out of NO, but now I am wondering how they will ever get back home to LA?

5. I started crying as soon as I got in my car to come home from work.
I had just read on Salon about a little boy who could not take his dog on the evacuation bus and he screamed, "Snowball! Snowball!" until he vomited.

I screamed out on the way to work and I cried on the way home. I'm an emotional wreck right now.

12. flyarm - I'm sorry
I feel guilty even mentioning this story. It's so heart-wrenching, I feel like I'm cutting people with a knife when I tell this one.

for the rest of his life. He's going to feel like he let his dog down.

6. I have been crying too
I was hysterical this morning. And I am not a crier.

This is just the most horrifically awful event in my lifetime. And to watch these people dying in the streets in New Orleans just compounds the pain.

If I see one more sick or dying baby, I know I will lose my mind.

I am going out tonight and staying away from TV and DU. I feel guilty but I have to calm myself down.

7. don't feel guilty.
We need to take care of ourselves b/c when it's all over, the Republicans will have found a way to blame it on liberals and we need to make sure we fight back.

said the victims "CHOSE to stay thru the hurricane." They are blaming the victims right and left.

9. I freely admit to being more devastated and frightened over Katrina...
... than 9/11.

It's more real. It's more urgent. Many thousands more have died.

I was shaken by 9/11, because it was brought to our shores by terrorists.

But this storm was brought to us by Mother Nature, who is far stronger.

I'm in tears, too.

14.  Yes. And it's got us turning on each other in a way the terrorists could
never dream of achieving.

18. I feel your urgency and devastation - here's why
For 9/11, it was a done deal in one day. We knew that most of the people were gone, even though they did find a few lucky survivors in the rubble and many got out before the building collapsed. With this, we see the people that COULD be saved and we see them doing little to nothing to do that. We are frustated. We are anxious. We are mad at our government for spouting "safety" for 5 years without anything to back it up.

Where the hell are the "Safety Moms for Bush" now? How safe do they feel now?

I wish I could air drop any smug Bush voter who hasn't repented in to NO and let them try to survive.
