She was rescued by FEMA yesterday, given antibiotics because they had to walk through some dirty water and she is already at home in Baltimore. Nice white lady back and home and poor black folks still have no food/water. WTF is that all about. Were tourists top priority out the NO hotels??? I wonder.

I think that is what Bush was doing. He was letting the "market" fix the horrors in Katrina's wake. Because the market is perfect you know...

Why the mayor said when they offered him school buses & school bus drivers for evacuation of the Dome...he said "Hell no - you get every single big, air-conditioned travel bush here from around the country".

I really think that that was what Bush was up to. Fielding calls from corporations on what part they could play in the rebuilding.

I mean lumber companies in the US (who are in a nasty struggle with softwood companies in Canada) got in touch and said "they would not impose duties on any donations of wood from Canadian lumber companies sending free wood to New Orleans"). Means whoever got the contract to rebuild - would have a greater profit with free wood from Canada. Perhaps.

So shit like that was being taken care of

Bush left a big hole so that there would be opportunity for his asshole corporate friends to make a buck and get some free advertising in the form of "goodwill" with donations. Every crisis is a chance for business to make a killing. I think that may be what Bush was up to. Why the vacuum. To leave more opportunity to the private sector. During a crisis. Nice time to impose your Utopian and untested theories.

3. I'm not upset they got her out

EVERYBODY needs to be evacuated - including the tourists. And some have pointed out that their are genuine threats against the tourists lives - people are desparate and most are just looking for food and water, but in any situation of mass chaos, some are going to direct that anger towards violence. There's an account on another DU thread that talks about someone staying at a New Orleans hotel who had to be evacuated under escort.

Now, I'm not saying they had a priority OVER the other people of New Orleans. I'm just saying everybody should be helped get out, not just the middle-class and rich tourists. The way the vast majority of the victims are being treated is dispicable.

They apparently were there because they were attending a convention for INFECTIOUS DISEASES DOCTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like the ones that are going to start sprouting up any day now in NOLA.
