You do not abandon your buddies and expect them to protect you. You want these soldiers to desert the battlefield? Even if they could "come home", they would be imprisoned in Iraq, on the way or when they get home and would ultimately be a worse burden to their families. High sounding impractical rhetoric is a reflection of blind rage we are used to hearing from Republicans. Don't get pissed, get smart.

11. That was a sentiment in Vietnam also.

While I was in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968 there were riots going on in American cities. A black friend of mine was from the same city as I was and we both were thinking what the hell are we protecting. Basically, black soldiers were supposedly protecting freedoms that were not alloted to them when they got home.
