1. no no no no no no that isn't right, he didn't say it like that
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 06:44 PM by jsamuel
he was questioning Rev. Jackson if race played a factor and he asked him if race played a factor if the Mayor was black.

That is all, he was just being a good reporter. He had to point this out to do the story right.

6. Agreed. I think perhaps the OP misunderstood what Anderson said.
After the way Cooper was going after Lott a few minutes ago, I'm more likely to believe he's just doing full and complete reporting.

28. I don't know what he (Anderson) is being told. He's been in a
bubble (as far as I know). No perspective may be. I don't know. But he hasn't been allowed to talk to anyone that "I" think are responsible. Certainly it's not Trent Lott's fault.

It's difficult to contain my rage enough to hear your thoughts. I HATE these people. They will destroy good Americans (Cooper if he's not careful) if it advances thier perverted cause.

10. that is ok, you have a right to your opinion, i just saw it as pointing
out the obvious even though it went against what the Rev was saying. I think if he didn't talk about it, people would discount the whole segment. In other words, he talked about the elephant in the room.

A couple days ago he talked about that drowned family who didn't want to leave for fear of lotters and then he said they collected salt and pepper shakers and these were all lined up and not distrubed. He said it was really surreal, and he was very sad and upset you could tell.

Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 06:59 PM by Usrename
He's a Racist Fucking Bastard and he hatchet jobbed Sen Landrieu yesterday. He is not on the side of TRUTH

<edit>

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2053655&mesg_id=2053655

Politically, one of our most powerful weapons to use against them is the 'record' of Sen Landrieu. Not her, dummies, her 'record'. She prophecised this entire disaster (not hard to do, I admit that, a dummy could see this coming) but SHE is on the record. (I'm not on the record regarding disater preparedness, are you?) She has spent hours and hours speaking on the floor of the senate. This administration told her to go to Hell.

Now if she is marginalized, all of that political persuasiveness (the 'I told you so') will be lost. This is not a drill. The time for her to make this argument (I told you so) will come, and it must be a powerful debate. The followers of the current administration will not hear this message unless it is loudly expressed. This is how they win. They destroy "our" message. Blame the media If you like, but then take responsibility for your own actions. Beware: everything in the OP is true, this is really happening. They will do anything to win.

Landrieu is dangerous for the other side. They will cut her from the herd and destroy her. Once she is discredited, she is neutralized. No longer important. Her story is the MOST COMPELLING story of this disaster and Rove knows it. Please check this out.

This is just my opinion, thoughtful dissent is welcome.

20. Yes, and I apologize for going off Half-cocked, yesterday
It's just that I know who she is and what she stands for. She's trying to get money for the schools to repair the devastion from NCLB. She is dealing with a lot of disasters due to this administration. How, I have no clue, but the $10B dollars she was talking about yesterday will help.

This disaster effort being fucked up isn't her fault, or the Mayor's. I wish a reporter would ask Anderson if he feels the White House has ANY responsibility.

She was on there saying what a good job the White House was doing and how great the response was. And she voted for the bankrupcy bill. She got what she deserved. Cooper has finally stood up and laid the blame on Bush's doorstep, and he is crapping on anyone who disagrees with him. And you people are angry at him?????

27. Yeah, but I think she asked for it...
She was going on about "thanking the Congress, thanking the President", and I think Cooper just freaked. He's standing with these people, watching dead bodies floating around and the pols were kissing each other for the 'great response'?!

Look I have no idea what his reporting in the past has been like. But this man fought for these people that he'd been with, and I think that's what reporters SHOULD do.

35. She should DEMAND help, not thank them for it.
I think the situation there is very grim. I would come unglued. But, to ask Jesse "Isn't it the Mayor's fault" speaks for itself. He cannot report the TRUTH if he cant discern what it is. Like I said in another post, I think he is in a bubble and can't tell. May be someone from the network told him it was the Mayor's fault. dunno, but I think he's off base with this one.

I think if she wasn't for big oil she wouldn't be a senator there. It's a pretty red area and it's getting bluer because of her help. If we toss everyone who disagrees with us on everything then all we have left is ourselves. No representation. Hey I don't live there and I have never voted for her. I just think she will be useful in taking back the congress.

And she voted for Bush's war and tax cuts as well (all of which have taken money that should have gone toward repairing the leeves and funding FEMA). I don't think she went along with Bush's budget though but then again I could be wrong.

She hasn't served the economic interests of the poor in La for a while (though of course Vitter and the oukes are even worse so anything they say now is extremely disingenuous). In fact I can't think of a single southern senator (of either party) that votes in favor of the poor and middle class.

I have no vested interest in Landrieu or Cooper, but every time she opened her mouth, she was oozing with praise for Bush. There wasn't a tinge of sarcasm in her voice or in her look. I heard her say the same thing 3 or 4 times. You are obviously a huge supporter of hers but in the wake of such a catastrophe, a local elected official is supposed to be fighting mad for her constituents. People dying right now take precedence over political posturing. HER story is the most compelling of this disaster? Maybe you need to reword that a little bit.

30. The way I heard it ..... my take ....
Sounded like Anderson was questioning the 'wisdom' of the local Mayor to move all these people into the 'superdome' ...... where it has turned out to be characterized as some kind of tomb. However what Anderson seems to have forgotten is that the Superdome, as a last resort was used to get these people into a SAFE place, to protect them from the HURRICANE as it came ashore. The Mayor was providing shelter from the storm. Anyway the water rose, and they were stuck there. Anderson seems to say things sometimes without thinking every aspect over sometimes. But like most of this thread states, he has been calling out the Bush administration on their incompetence to this disaster. Peace. :)
