Have you heard people out in public complaining about GWB lately?
Obviusly, we can come in here at anytime, and find lots of criticism of the boy chimp. In the last two days though, I've heard a few people out in public criticizing Jr. heavily, and I haven't had that much contact with strangers in the last couple of days! Yesterday, I was in a Kmart, and I heard a lady about 40 or so talking into her cell phone. "Words just cannot express how much I hate that man... ...all those people who voted for him..."
It was great! She was NOT shy about letting anybody else hear her end of the conversation, and it was quite clear that she was talking about Bush.
Today, I was in a restaurant, and there were three ladies sitting at the table next to me. They ranged from about 50 to about 75 years of age. They were laying it on the chimp too. One of them said something like, "Clinton lied about..." and another added, "Keeping his pants on", but both of them followed up by talking about Bush's pre-invasion lies, and how they had led to the stupid war and all the deaths, etc.

Just these two incidents lead me to believe that there are a LOT of others in this country criticizing our failed leader. Have you heard any similar incidents this past week?

I am not loathing because it took such a sick and dire situation to get them to see this.

My favorite was a remote hearing: a regular caller to Jerry Springer who noted that he's always supported Bush on Iraq but that Bush's inaction on Katrina made him 'want to puke.'

7. In Republican Dallas 'burbs I'm not hearing it. There is definitely an
underlying nervousness to the Bushbots.. I think they are the wife who just found the phone numbers in the husband's jacket.. They can't yet let themselves wrap their mind around the enormity of what it means about Bush, what it means to the country.

I'm still hearing them mostly desparately grasp onto whatever the RW hate radio talking points are. Focusing on the looters, "shoot to kill." Blame all on the Gov and Mayor.

But it is a desparate grasping, not confident at all.

But I'm still not hearing any of them speak the truth about Bush.

25. a friend of mine from a Dallas suburb told me yesterday
that the people in the Superdome have plenty of food and water--it's just that the sanitary conditions there are terrible.

Whatever.

I don't actually know whether he's Republican, Democrat, Independent, or oblivious--and he's a wonderful guy, not the kind of person to turn a blind eye to suffering, so my best guess is that that's simply the kind of crap they're hearing on the evening news around there.

26. It is interesting how the righties are trying to re-frame the story
They and their media buddies tried to make the looting of the local Walmart the main story, when the real story is one of enormously tragic human suffering. It's sad that they don't want the true story to be known.

12. Even in Oklahoma
Many people I came in contact with today were voicing their disdain and anger. Two Republican friends of mine brought it up with me that they were disappointed and angry with Shrub. I pointed out that this was not the first time he had gone on vacation and shirked his duty as President. They admitted that they always dismissed my rants about Shrub but they had been reading some of the web sites and articles I constantly send all my Conservative friends and are ripe for concession that I was RIGHT!
But what really surprised me was the Centrist Democrats I talked to today. Usually they state their liberal opinions in whispers but were very vocal today.

It's periods in American history like this, that make the public want a huge change in direction from their leadership. I'm starting to think that the chimp era may hand the Presidency, Senate, and House to us in the next election, and also many state House and Senate majorities.

17. Yes, I have
I've been having a problem with the air conditioner in my apartment for weeks and finally one of the maintenance men came and worked on it.

I was watching the coverage of things happening this morning, switching between CNN and MSNBC(refuse to watch Fox) and he came in to tell me he had the problem fixed. He noticed what I was watching and said:

"This is a national tragedy..." Then we spent a few minutes talking about Bush and what he has done to this country. I was glad to hear some sane talk from an average working guy.

I just pray that this indignation at what is occurring will continue after all is said and done.

Wasn't very complimentary I take it. I'm talking about a school staff that was ecstatic that bush stole office again.

Also, I ride a little wimpy electric scooter to work. Have been for two years now, weather permitting. I used to get looks of derision from big truck drivers. But today I pull up to a quickie mart for some beer and a couple of big bubbas are standing around their trucks talking about the price of gas and one of them says, "Now there you go. I should get me one of them." And he meant it.

I'm a little miffed that she thinks he's MY president, especially since my yard and car was plastered with Kerry campaign signs. I guess she just assumed because it's so red in my neighborhood.

I am retired and live far out in the country. I am outside almost all day almost every day. Two or three people a day stop and just chat. Different people now and then, I don't know most of their names, though most seem to know mine. People who have never said a political word before now seem to feel free to curse Bush at the first hint of discussion about any matter currently on the stage of public opnion. It was not that way just a month ago.

Now here it is Friday and the chicken hawk bastard decides to go to New Orleans. 60. About ending the vacation early . . .
His real motive may have been the recess appointment he just made of a Justice Dept. official who was under scrutiny by Congress. Since the Congress decided to return early to get some aid for Katrina victims passed, Bush had to hustle back to D.C. to make the appointment while they were still in recess. Did it the day before Congress convened, which I believe was Thursday.

She said hi and immediately went into how pissed she was at our pResident. She said she had just seen him on tv and I asked if there was another photo-op. Apparently, her family use to spend 2 weeks every summer in NO and her mother taught decorative arts in Mississippi. Her boyfriend also lived a few years in LA. And, last November, one of her former students was killed by a sniper in Iraq.

Needless to say, she voted Kerry and she is pissed!

many, many fundies (Pentecostal churches the size of the Pentagon every few miles).

My job entails working with homeowners, landowners, ranchers and farmers.

TO THE PERSON, I have heard people talking junk not only about the incompetence of shrub, but about primarily the republican party in general. I was surprised to find out how much people know about the corruption, corporate dominance and theft of the government under the republicans, and how people have connected the dots. Stranger still: they realize just how LONG the republicans have been in control of everything. Some of the old timers have even said they've been thinking the voting was "crooked". (With an opening like THAT, I can tell you I gave 'em an earful! ;) )

These are all white, rural Americans in a very conservative state --they don't even sell alcohol in a great many counties in Arkansas. My job keeps me traveling throughout all the states, one state at a time, and I am really amazed at how little alcohol is allowed in this state! ....sorry, that's a side note; but it's indicative of just how conservative and religious they are here.

People are not just acting polite about their disdain for bush and the republican party (these are salt-of-the-earth types, and normally very polite people)...they are hissing about it, and ANGRY. The southern boundary of Arkansas attaches to Louisiana's northern boundary, and they are feeling VERY sympathetic toward their neighbors to the south. And THEY KNOW WHOSE FAULT IT IS THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN ANYWHERE NEAR ENOUGH HELP FORTHCOMING!

Yep. Eyes around here are very open. And they're not afraid to talk about it to people they hardly even know (me).

48. I went to the grocery store at lunch today (in SoCal) and
the clerk and the lady in front of me were both going OFF on Bush about NOLA, rather loudly. Then when I got to the clerk, I went off on Bush and the clerk was agreeing, and so was the guy behind me.

Then I went to the bank and everybody in line was bitching about Bush and his mishandling of NOLA.

Every client I saw today was practically yelling about him, too.

50. I had an incident tonight when I went out for dinner
I was eating at the local Ihop and family was eating a few seats away. Before they ate they bowed their heads and began to pray (I live in the bible belt and it's not uncommon for folks to pray in public) about half way through the meal I heard the father who was older say real loud our President is a disgrace all those great brains in Washington and they can't fix the problems in NO."

Today while driving to work I overheard on the radio a woman called in said. "I've always supported President Bush but the way he's handling this disaster is a disgrace."

So maybe these people are changing their minds but they're so manipulated by the media and politicians it's hard to tell if their minds are changing or if they'll stay that for any length of time.

56. Smack dab in the middle of Texas, and I'm seeing interesting changes....
Had a coworker start a conversation with me Thursday. A real truck drivin', beer drinkin', east Texas boy. Moderately conservative on some issues, DAMNED conservative on others.
Well....actually it was less a conversation and more a "he ranted, I listened and nodded" kind of thing.
It was all about the price of gas and the oil company profits, and since everyone's pissed about that, I didn't think much of it other than to be mildy surprised to hear that kind of talk from him.

But then....

I came out to break a couple of hours later and he had a couple of other guys pinned--furious about the disaster in NO. I didn't catch much of the conversation (here at ground zero, experience has taught us to speak in whispers when being critical of the Furher), but I did overhear, "Take them to Crawford, plenty of room...that place outta be clear of brush by now, for God's sake!" and "Put them in Perry's house, too!"

Didn't hear any opposition from the other guys, either.

62. Not Yet
My mother is still praising GWB - thinks he is doing a great job!

Haven't heard a peep from anybody at work or in the stores!

What is wrong with everybody in Michigan!

63. My mom lives in rural NE Arkansas
She is a liberal Dem, as are most people there. Her sister and brother-in-law, however, are sick Repukes who drip with hatred for Clinton and watch nothing but Fox news.

Mom said her sister has been defending Bush and is angry at the people who refused to leave. Mom usually refuses to argue and is just quiet, but she said she couldn't keep quiet anymore. She yelled back at her sister. Her brother-in-law, who is involved in the state Republican party, has been noticably quiet; even he can't muster the courage to defend what has been going on in the Gulf.
