my mom is scared to death about me going to NOLA
with the red cross.

This woman has volunteered all around the world. She was in Cambodia, Ethiopia, the Sudan....

and she is scared about me going somewhere in America...

This is beyond fucked up.

2. You're her daughter. I'd be scared to send you off there too.
But it sounds like you take after her. I bet she's proud. :)

3. She should be.
Don't get me wrong, we appreciate what you're doing. But the point is beyond desperation there now. A friend whose husband works with a crew that brought in supplies said they were attacked for what they had and her husband was stabbed in the leg before they could get away.

If you're going...Please be very careful.

4. If I were your mother, I'd be terrified too.
If you do go, be very careful, use a little skepticism, and be safe.

5. Parental double-standard...
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 07:32 PM by WI Independent
I'd be much more concerned about my (grown) kids risking their lives than I would risking my own. Worrying is on pages 1-50 of the parenting manual. :D

I'm sure she's also very proud of what you're doing!

Do be careful though... you are (to some degree) risking your life.

7. You're going? Can we have reports please?
That would be a most valuable resource to the "Krewe of DU".

You know, in a way I almost envy you. I figure my time will come when we move into the rebuilding and redesign phase.
