Which major TV news outlet is the least bad?
Quick opinion question to help me out:

If your opinion, which Network TV News outlet is the least biased, or biased towards the left (ha) which I am fine with.

NBC, CBS, ABC or...*snicker* FOX (I figured I'd throw it in there.) I guess we can add CNN to the mix even though I don't get cable.

I've always prefered ABC personally, but not necessarily because I discerned any political leanings, I just think I liked the format best. I was just curious what others thought.

8. Right after 9/11...
Rather on was on the Letterman show, and said that Bush was the president, and all he needed to do was to tell him (Rather) where to line up... or something like that. In retrospect, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Most everyone was still in shock on 9/17/2001.

3. ABC World News tonight
I like the fact that they bring news from around the world and not just a national view. And they seem more fair than other news sources. Maybe it's all the cross-pollination going on at NBC that irks me - Katie Couric & Dr. Phil, MSNBC & CNBC, etc. Plus their self-promotion commercials really bug me.

4. Free Speech TV on the DISH Network
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 08:12 PM by w4rma
Free Speech TV is available in over 11 million U.S. homes -- airing 24 hours a day on DISH Network Channel 9415 and part-time on 70 community access cable stations in 22 states.

But, of the major TV Networks, I'd order them from bad to least bad:
1) FOX, 2) NBC, 3) CNN, 4) CBS, 5) ABC.

5. The News Hour on PBS.
It's non-partisan and follows the rules of old-fashioned journalism.

6. Combined with NOW (Bill Moyers)
Don't forget NOW.

BBC World News is offered in more and more places. We get it in Chicago on WYCC Channel 20 at 6 a.m., 12 noon, and 10 p.m. each day.

7. PBS has longer interviews but ABC is more hard-hitting.
Jennings is pretty damn consistent in reporting accurately ... to the extent that the day the word came down to report happy talk news from iraq, he prefaced a short and semi-positive piece with something on the order of "Word has come down to us that some think the media has been concentrating overly much on the negatives of the Iraq situation, so here are some positive events." SAID WITH THE CLASSIC RAISED EYEBROW GRIMACE>

9. I liked ABC before they hired Limbaugh
There are only a couple of good journalists left in this country. Rather, Jennings, Brokaw, Koppel... they are a disappearing breed.
Cable news gives us Paula Zahn interviews, with her legs prominently displayed, Chris Matthews shriek-fests, Hannity and O'Reilly.
Geez, when did American Journalism die?
