Bullshit
Please explain to me since when does a Governor and Mayor have to request for help during a major disaster after the area has already been declared a disaster?? If this is the case, why would anyone pay attention to such a policy after seeing all the hardship and devastation. For several days we've seen people in New Orleans on tv begging for food, water, shelter, and medical care. We're now being told today that its because the Governor and Mayor didn't request any help........Bullshit!!

10. Rove is up to something

but no way can they cover this up. This is bigger than anything any of us have ever seen. Keep notes, talking about everything you see and hear. No way will I personally allow this administration get away with covering up there lies.

Note:* When the former mayor of San Diego got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and was forced to resign, during his exit speech he said " A good leader knows when to quit."

12. Operative word there is "good"
Unfortunately, we have been without any leadership for so long, I have forgotten what it felt like to turn on the news and not feel revulsion and disgust at the actions of our elected officials... there are few exceptions but the past few years has tarnished the whole system. Time for cleaning it all up and starting fresh.

4. Last night the Pentagon tried a pity play - why are you siding with
the victims?

Tonight they use the mayor. Everybody and their secretary in Washington knows that you don't leave a vacuum around a mayor if it is a national disaster. You send him the EXPERTISE HE NEEDS. And not some windbag who spins his wheels and pretends he can only get info from the T.V. All the reports flew in on Sunday night. Where were the experts with the communication systems?

The mayor requested help. The mayor didn't get it.

6. It's back to a failure to "connect the dots". That's what they'll say in
the end.

FEMA's Micheal Brown will fall on his sword ala CIA director, George Tenet.

When the smoke clears, Chimpy gets a pass on this one.

9. The Dept of Homeland Security is supposed to be in charge
of National Emergencies. They are the only ones with the resources to respond to large scale emergencies. What if this had been a terrorist attack? They wouldn't do anything until the mayor calls? Give me a break.

13. because thats the governor's and mayor's job -- protect and serve theirs
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 06:20 AM by aikoaiko

Bush and his appointees have hell to pay for what happened afterward, but it was the responsibility of the mayor and gov to coordinate statewide LEO and buses to get the poor out BEFORE Katrina hit.

Here;s my take on the governors and mayor;s culpability and my take on her so called request for help.
