Two Americas evident in the South

John Edwards had it exactly right. There's an America that has the means to flee an impending disaster. The other America has to take it on the chin and then act with amazing restraint in general waiting for the other America to help. Very sad week for us all but maybe illuminating for some who refused to see the light.

On Cnn with Blitzer he had a woman on who had called him yesterday from the ritz carlton saying there were 300 people stranded and they were in need of help.Today she called back and she was in Maryland! Just minutes after the call the rescuers came.How was this possible when they couldn't even get water to the rest of the people?

Apparently they were worried they were making a bad impression with the tourist industry. I thought, WTF? That's the least of your concerns right now.

America is an aristocracy--always has been. Now people are seeing the uglier side of that.
