Aaron Brown: my previous title was perhaps premature.
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 09:48 PM by Opposite Reaction
OK, I will give benefit of doubt, but I think Aaron was not quite sincere in his brief discussion of racism with Rep. Tubbs-Jones.

I really hope I am wrong. We must really deal with racism NOW.

16. Yes, she was! She's almost always terrific. Sane and honest.
Aaron wasn't bad -- just a tad too comfortable for my taste. I loved the fact that she said "Keep bringing it up, Aaron!" in closing. "We sure will," he affirmed. That's what every liberal should say to the media when the topic needs air and sunlight.

different if it was white middle class people. She answered that a lot of it is class but race, especially in that part of the south, is definely an issue.

remember him giving his. I was glad it was a topic.

11. It's that high-pitched voice of skepticism.
Even if the questions are not specifically in opposition, the tone is doubtful. I've heard it a lot. Polite, but still very guarded.

The stench of racism is ALL OVER this situation, and the establishment is scared.

8. You know what? This is a double-edged sword.....
if this is racism and classism that says a lot about this administration.

if this has nothing to do with race and class? than America is not prepared to respond to a disaster ANYWHERE in America.

and the lady (and a great one she is) thanked him for that and asked that he not let this topic go away. He promised he wouldn't.

19. And only time
but rage is growing ... the air is ripe with the aroma of recently exposed bullshit. We, the people, are angry. Class warfare has been waged. The rich neocons have declared it upon the rest of us, albeit discretely. But now we know. The whole nation knows. We have paid too horrible a price for the knowledge. The Aaron Brown's damn well better run this to ground, for they are complicit in keeping the harsh truths from the people. Having said that, I still have to say: Good on ya, Aaron, Anderson and Miles. At last, you have rediscovered your manhood.

13. I thought he did a good job, he raised the issue not only in this
section but the preceeding one with the selective evacuations between two hospitals. He was raising the question of racism and it needs to be raised, it was shown in all it's ugliness in NO, imo.

14. I didn't see it that way at ALL
To the contrary, I think that Aaron completely believes there are class and race issues with this, and that he was trying to get HER to say there was as well.

Didn't you see the hospital segment right before this?

18. I just saw this interview and the segment before about the patients in the
public (Charity) hospital being left while they basically evacuated the personnel from Tulane leaving the very ill patients at the hospital that cares for the poor.

I then saw the segment you were mentioning.

In both cases, it was obvious that Aaron Brown was completely disgusted with what was going on and was obviously trying to lead his interviewees into making those important points. He's suppose to be completely objective, but it was pretty obvious how he is leaning. He's just as reviled at what is going on as all of us.

I don't really understand how you could have come to this conclusion watching those segments.

I think he was impatient with himself because he could not get the point across to the Rep. She didn't seem to mind.

23. If he wasn't sincere, why would he do the segment at ALL?
Why would he be talking so much about it? Why his obvious disgust and outrage that private Tulane hospital was evacuated while the public Charity Hospital still has not been with over 200 patients?

24. All I know is she was wonderful
Saying that if she was president - this wouldn't be happening. It made my heart leap with hope for the first time in a week. He, on the other hand, was insignificant. He was expendable to the segment.
