WTF? the DHS is not letting the Red Cross into New Orleans?
How fucked up is this?

Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?

* Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders.

* The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues to request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city.

Seriously screwy
"Our presense would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city?"

Oh, yeah...these people WANT to stay in the festering pesthole the city has become. :sarcasm:

That statement is just absurd.

As far as encouraging others to come into the city? What others?

:banghead:

They were spreading the meme "Where is the Red Cross?" yesterday. Now they know, their guy's pet department wouldn't let them in to help the people dying, wow, I hope they are REAL proud now.

11. If they had been there Bush wouldn't have his photo-op today
If the Red Cross were in NO handing out food, water, helping the injuried and basically keeping people calm so they wouldn't get freaked out and turn on each other, then Bush couldn't have arrived today at the same time the supplies did.

Don't you get it? Photo-ops are more important than American lives. That's one of the lessons of Iraq and 9/11.

13. They are MORE CONCERNED about People Breaking
Windows for Water and Food, and ESSENTIALS to SURVIVE then they are about FOOD & WATER and rescuing those people; suffering HUMAN BEINGS!

I'm an American and my govt has sickened me this week to a point that it's unforgivable.

And on note: They are NOT refugees, for God's sakes, their our fellow Americans!

21. I can't verify this, but I've been reading all over the net
that FEMA has prevented a number of grouups from going in to NO - Red Cross, volunteers with boats, law enforcement from other states.

In my worst moments, I think this is a planned genocide. In my kinder ones, I think it's just the idiots in FEMA protecting their turf without actually doing a fucking thing for the people.

In any case, this seems to be coming from too many different sources to be just a story.

25. holy fucking shit- city of chicago offer snubbed
In the event of a disaster, the city offered to send 44 Chicago Fire Department rescue and medical personnel and their gear, more than 100 Chicago police officers, 140 Streets and Sanitation, 146 Public Health and 8 Human Services workers, and a fleet of vehicles including 29 trucks, two boats and a mobile clinic.

"So far FEMA has requested only one piece of equipment {ndash} a tank truck to support the Illinois Emergency Response Team, which is already down there," Daley said. "The tank truck is on its way. We are awaiting further instructions from FEMA."

It is hard to wrap your mind around just how insane it all is. The Red Cross can't feed people for fear they will just lollygag around a flooded city? Is this Monty Python?

31. FUCK FUCK FUCK
I will NEVER donate another penney to the Red Cross. The country has given them, what $200 million so far? And they aren't allowed into New Orleans to provide food, water, shelter while everyone waits for buses?

I almost didn't make a donation to the Red Cross because of E. Dole's connection with this crowd. They are just following Repuke orders.
