Colin Powell in distress?
I was just watching Powell lie to the press about Iraq and the UN on CSPAN and his flag lapel pin is upside down.

Is he sending out distress signals, or is it just an accident?

2. A white flag and a plea...
...for political amnesty would have been too obvious...

3. It probably got turned around somehow by accident.
Remember, it looked right-side-up when he looked down to pin it on. :7

4. Maybe he has one of those mirrors that
reverse up and down instead of left and right.
:D

It probably was a mistake. But I do believe Colin Powell is in distress. Maybe I'm naieve, but I think Powell is inside, a decent man. And he has been used by the Bush administration since before Shrub was even selected. Remember how Bush made sure everyone knew he was going to have Powell as his secretary of state. And Powell got into it and he is over his head. Because he knew Powell was popular and would help this inexperienced chimp get elected. Cheney runs the show. Rumsfield walks all over him. And he is pushed further and further back. He is brought out to the UN to mouth their lies. Why does he do it if I'm right and he is a decent man inside? Well, because he is a soldier, first and always. He follows order and doesn't make waves. That is how he rose through the ranks as a black man. Is he going to reach his limit? I sure hope so. Because I once had a lot of respect for Powell, but since his "show" at the UN, I am beginning to agree with Harry Belefonte who was excoriated for calling Powell a "house ni--er"

17. I used to feel that way too, But I now feel that if he's that good
he would have resigned a long time ago. He has a pension, and he has other job opportunities. Others have resigned with dignity after fighting the good fight. So it leads me to speculate that maybe he's not so good after all.

12. Ah yes, the family
I'm sure they miss him a lot. They're probably very anxious for him to come home.

7. The logical explanation is:
He's been working for the Bush administration for so long that he can no longer tell black from white and he's beginning to have trouble with "up" and "down".

9. Colin Powell...
What an ass kisser for this admin., I thought in the beginning that he might be a voice of reason to this insane, power hungry administration, but he hasn't and it doesn't appear that he will. He is a bitter disapointment to me. I'm trying to figure out how and why he sold out to the cabal and in the process, decided he is too far gone for redemption... His participation and sound bites for this admin have been a bitter disapointment to me.

13. maybe the flag is right and Colin's upside down
He was always an ass-kissing self promoter.

He's been stepping on people to advance his own career and telling lies for his commanders since Viet Nam.

There is no punishment severe enough to adequately serve the demands of justice when it comes to this Cabal.

21. "stepping on people" for his...
"self advancement" included whoring himself to the benefit of his freeper son for a big position at the FCC. It's all very tawdry and disapointing to me, he sure had me fooled for a short time...

Who knows what might have happened had he not been part of the cabinet. We really don't know if he has been a calming force or not, but it could be.

I hope he has nightmares about the mess he's helped to create for the rest of his sorry life.

20. He always looks like he ate a bad enchilada to me anyway
As far as I'm concerned, he deserves as much distress as he can get--he and his traitorous son. The Powells have become the BFEE Jr.

22. I don't give a shit about him
Never cared about him once he came out as a Repug. That said, I have noticed that he is getting harder to understand. He is slurring words or in some way hanging on words - he doesn't speak as precisely as he did just a a year or two ago.

If being a memember of the Bush* misadministration wouldn't drive you to drink I can't imagine what on this earth could.

Sounds like the pin has finally declared its independence from the junta. Powell_never!

Iran-Contra didn't seem to do it for him either.
