They are carrying automatic weapons ni NOLA. As seen just now on CNN - Pentagon correspondent reporting.

They do that in Grand Central occasionally now too.

What has this country come to?

2. Occasionally???
Every time I'm in Grand Central, there are ALWAYS troops with automatic weapons in there.

4. Well I'm in there every day and I don't notice them every day -
but maybe I am just inured to the sight.

5. Evening rush hour
I usually am coming into the city (and Grand Central) as the mob of commuters is leaving to go home and the place where I commonly see them is just beyond the north entrance of the main concourse by that escalator that goes down to the food court (the hall also leads to a ramp out to 42nd St - they're not guarding the food. LOL).

3. Well, twice in my lifetime I've seen a similar scene. . .
here in Los Angeles. . . once in '65, then again in '92. So troops patrolling streets doesn't show that the country has "come" to anything, only that it's repeating itself.

6. Do you want the troops to go unarmed? The standard military arms are
the M-16 rifle and M9 pistol. Troops either use their issue arms are nothing.
