Personalities for Gore TV?
Gore will have the TV station by the end of the year. Now we must think of who he should have on there. Here is who I have so far:

Franken
Garafolo
Maher (Maybe)
Press
Robbins
Carville
Begala

2. Carville can't have a TV show -- it's be illegal
Vicious dogs must be restrained at all times!

If James Carville were thrown in a pit with six rabid tigers and a hungry T-Rex, my money'd be on Carville.

4. Curious
If Gore has is own TV station (which I think is a fine idea), do you think that will basically signal that he is not going to run again for the presidency?

I'm not sure that's a negative; getting a solid progressive voice in the media would probably be more positive and have a longer lasting effect than a term or two in the White House. But it is sort of a lateral move.

Gore could run again. If the party calls on him this time, he is there. Either way he is helping the party!

17. Nancy Skinner
But only if Nancy loses her Illinois Senate bid, which I hope is not the case. (I'm voting for her.)

Mike Malloy would be another choice.

Eric Zorn would be yet another good choice. He's a Chicago Tribune columnist.

Also, I think it ought to be called GNN (Global News Network, although we all know what the G stands for :-)).

27. Did you see her comedy routine? It was anti-bush

and very funny.

I'm sure most of us have conservative friends. She is not (from what I've seen) a conservative.

You know that Chris Rock ain't a conservative, and she helped write a large portion of his jokes.

22. did you know ... apparently the original plan for "Earth in the Balance"
... was for it to be a TV show, along the lines of Carl Sagan's immensely successful "Cosmos".

I guess David Suzuki is currently doing something like this now ... actually, he's someone who would likely say yes if approached by Gore. The story I heard was that Suzuki's daughter was at the Rio conference in 1992, doing a presentation as a youth delegate, and Gore (who was part of the US delegation) rushed up and gave her a hug, told her how much he enjoyed her talk and hoped she would keep doing it ...

That was the first I'd heard of Gore, and I thought what he did was pretty cool.

28. from what I have been reading...
...the format will be for younger viewers and will be news and documentaries. I doubt very much that this will be the shouting pundit format now used by CNNMSNBCFOX. I doubt that our old warhorses will even be represented. Lehrer, Shields, etc. Probably not even Begala or Carville.

I suspect that some of us might even be disappointed and think this venture will not be the "red meat" network that would thrill us all.

But if I know anything about Al Gore, I know that he is a visionary. His eye is on the future. Ten years, twenty years. And so he intends to influence people who might not be currently political.

This isn't directly meant for us. And it shouldn't be.

31. I can't suggest a personality, but...
...I can certainly suggest a brilliant tv show that GNN should pick up and run with on a weekly basis. CNNNN is a brilliantly written political humor show airing weekly here in Australia on the ABC network, and is defenately a must for all political leftists out there.
