I must express my gratitude to CNN for being willing to finally ask,...

,...the uncomfortable questions about our country, our leadership, our society that have been long LONG overdue. Questions about priorities, about class, about equality, about real compassion.

I've beat up on CNN quite a bit,...even abandoned it altogether for months at a time. However, the last couple of days, CNN has shown a shift in tone and influence. CNN has shown a principled facet that I must acknowledge and for which I am most grateful.

Thank you, CNN. Thank you!

prior to Katrina. I hope people flood them with positive feedback and encouragement to keep it up, stay strong, be brave!

2. They still have lots of mindless twits there.

Larry King, the racist Lou Dobbs, and Wolf the Coward.

They suffered from having people who were remotely human on the ground.

I have never seen a "news" broadcast on Fox, but I've heard here that even their reporters had enough humanity to be moved by the reality.

Big fucking deal. They get smacked in the face by a 2 X 4 and some percentage of them recognize that Bush might be criminally insane.

Most of us here knew that for many years.

3. Nevertheless, the distinct change in tone compels me to be grateful.

It has been like a lantern in the darkness.

As for Fox, I will NEVER tune into that station. They are poison.

4. Yeah, I think Aaron Brown has stepped up to the plate here

and so has Anderson Cooper. Dobb's has changed his tone actually in the last year or so, surprisingly, as he is sort of the WASP poster boy there, but he has gotten a lot of W. bashing in (my husband watches him on occasion, and hubby is a good barometer).

I applaud them for keeping the discussion going on race and class. Did you see the utter disgust when Dr. Gupta and Brown were talking about how the Charity hospital patients had to wait on the parking roof, wait, and wait, and are still there, while they watched private Tulane hospital NEXT DOOR, evacuated? Gupta and Brown were clearly both disgusted.

As should we all be ( and I know the readers here are).

6. Cafferty observed those left behind: dominantly black and poor.

Dobbs is a WASP. However, he hasn't been a WH HO for quite sometime: he actually pointed out the corporatism element with respect to policies about immigration.

I've been really, really pissed-off at the complicit role the CM has played in allowing the BushCO/neoCON administration to betray and exploit the American people for purposes of personal power and profiteering.

However, for the first time, I am seeing a major CM outlet present challenging and uncomfortable questions about the state of our society and decisions of our government. I cannot help but be grateful for those important questions finally being presented to our people.

7. yeah, I thought it was meaningful that Cafferty,

a curmudgeonly rightie, at least I think I have read him right, was visibly upset by the classism being played out in this tragedy. I was impressed, and like someone here mentioned, I just sent CNN two emails thanking Brown and Cooper for their persistance in keeping the race and class issue in the forefront.

8. Yes. He is a cantankerous fellow. Yet, he simply expressed what,...

,...he saw with his own eyes.

Cooper actually expressed "feeling" (OMG - MAJOR BREACH OF OUR ROBOTRON SOCIETY) over the tragedy.

And, who were the two reporters who shared the tragic reality of people DYING right before their eyes? I LOVE THEM!!!! The revealed the secret, the American skeletons, the intentionally hidden part of our country that NO ONE IS WILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND ADDRESS.
