Bill Maher and guests totally rocked tonight!
Excellent show from beginning to end. It felt so damn good to watch and listen.

I really needed this one tonight! I'm recording the replay.

Thanks, Bill!

1. I Don't Much Care For Him Myself
From my perspective he comes across as an asshole, and one who is not particularly well informed but willing to do anything for a cheap laugh.

That said I tend to agree with him much of the time.

"It involves taking two of each animal. . . "

For Bush, "The jury is still out on weather forecasting"

17. In a local Seattle paper...
one letter to the editor asked (tongue in cheek, I'm sure) "What's all this blaming * for the disaster? What did you expect him to do, stand on the beach and part the seas?"

18. Replay
HBo replays it at least 5 times during the week. At least the HBO I get does, is not HBO the same everywhere?

I know for sure it comes on again Sunday night.

6. Yes everyone. And yet, when everyone agreed that the misery in NO
makes us ashamed to appear third world, I was thinking that this is only us, liberals.

As posted here before, most Republicans and other ego centrist who just want their Mcmansions and Hummers, etc. - for them seeing black people suffering is disengagement. It is something that happens to others, probably have some responsibility for this, don't want to be bothered by it, let's go have a drink.

Also, the lady - cannot remember her name - asked how come in Vietnam large helicopters could land and scoop many, while here they raised one person at a time. I've heard that all the electric wires made it difficult to move around them.

7. he's good!
before the show I was wondering what he would do tonight. Clearly, no one feels like joking (at least not a lot) but I thought he had an excellent show!

I thought Bradley Whitford made some excellent comments too! And I always enjoy seeing Fareed Zakaria.

And I don't remember who said it but they made a good point about someone (I think it was the Gov of LA) saying this is not the time for blame. 'Ok, so if now is not the time, when IS the time for it?'

13. thanks
I was thinking it was Cooper but I wasn't sure.

The spin machine will have to spin so fast to combat the damage they're going to get over this!!

No, this is not a Democrat issue, it's a humane issue. And anyone who has watched this all week and doesn't think it's a big deal.........well, that person values their own party more than true American values!!!

20. I don't think he could find one. He said something to the effect
that he couldn't find one & the actor said "couldn't find one in the whole country" or something to that effect.

16. His best ever show. BECAUSE nobody spouted RW talking points.
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 11:24 PM by Zen Democrat
This show is so much better when there's no ignoramus on the panel trying to throw a monkeywrench into any progressive conversation. Maher should lose those RW robots in the future.

I thought one of the best lines tonight is when he said that reporters on the ground were telling the truth about the Bush administration because there's no kool-aid left in New Orleans.

And when he said that Katrina is Bush's Waterloo.

19. It was a most enlightening show.
Reminded me of a conversation that you might find on the DU. Very thoughtful and wide-ranging.
