the people did get a little food and water today but that the relief was leaving as he spoke, and there was a looooongg line of trucks driving out. He said something about "there's a curfew" and gestured to the road, and then said that once again the people are left with nothing.

Jesus, I just can't imagine how those people are coping with the constant assurances of help, help arriving and then leaving, and knowing what awaits them.

I would recommend a national strike where folks peacefully assemble either outside of NO or the WH. If I truly thought that enough people would participate to actually make a difference. I can't believe that this is happening!

Aaron Brown on CNN just said that officials expect "tens of thousands" to end up dead.

Hello America????? Human actions, not nature, caused all that death.

It walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, smells like a duck...it is one.

The storm didn't create the flood, broken levees did, and the flood didn't cause the death, but human failure (government) to rescue and tend to people in need did.

Depriving people of food, water, sanitation, and protection from thugs brought in from the outside to shoot people, and thousands of people locked in NO while pretending that their buses were coming soon but never did; all that led to the death.

All that was human action/inaction, including the breaking of the levee that caused the flood (sorry, I've been around flood zones lots of years and I know no goddammed levees break after only one day of high water. NONE!).

That's what all these reporters have been getting all emotional about on live TV.
