Where'd the people outside the superdome get flags?
I saw the elderly lady earlier today with a flag (towel?) over her head (in 100 degree weather no less) and then on the news they showed children sitting on a curb at the dome (conv. ctr?) with flags. Did any of you watching live feeds or anything see or hear where they came from? Please tell me that the George Bush snake oil show didn't arrive with a caravan of water and food and passed out flags like it was the 4th of July? I'm pretty sure as these families were evacuating they didn't bring their flag collection with them. That's just weird. Here's the elderly lady (that I've seen several times tonight when I open yahoo):

7. Thanks for that, I wonder if they asked her to put it up like that for
a photo op.

8. They would be unlikely to have given
that poor old woman that flag blanket. That picture is such an INDICTMENT of the administration's response to this -- it reminds the public, not only is she suffering, SHE IS AN AMERICAN.

9. That's funny, I was going to ask if it was w/ the scanner info but then
figured surely they wouldn't be concerning them with flags when there is so much more important things going on.

6. I noticed late yesterday
and early today that suddenly flags were popping up all over.

Brand new flags by the look of them.

Now everybody knows Americans love their flag...but under the circumstances it seemed a bit bizarre.

I mean you all KNOW what country you're in...so why people would suddenly start waving flags ........

11. It is very bizarre, a sandwich and cold drink photo op would have
fit the circumstances better. The kids on the curbs looked like they were at an alternate universe Disney world all the piles of trash and destruction/inhumanity around them. Their PR machine is not even trying any more.

10. Karl Rove operation
You can bet your money on it.

I'm sure KKKarl made sure flags were distributed a few hours ahead of Bush visit.

Fuck the food, fuck the water, fuck the medicine. Make sure the children wave little American flags as the Chimperor approaches.

Surely must have been hung somewhere on his street or his own house. I feel in many ways it's one of the iconic images of this monstrosity.
