Google Garry Laboratory at Tulane University NO (important)
This is one of the biggest virology research centers in the nation. They are studying SARS, EBOLA, MARBURG, etc... Not to mention HIV, TB...

Is this lab in tact? I've read a lot of speculation on other forums that there may be something to this.

The Garry lab site is down, but there are a lot of articles on the web regarding the research done there.... frightening

1. The first several .....
links that come up on the search are unavailable. Did you find anything? I assume their servers are down. But this is certainly a frightening question that you raise.

3. Oh, that's brilliant.
Let's just leave this door open, and pretend we don't see the Iraqis sneaking out shells! I mean...what did I say?

4. Is that why they're not evacuating people? I am not CT, but
I saw some where today the word quarantined about NOLA residents.

Please do not jump off the end with this, I can't remember where, but I know that was the word used cause it seemed strange.

7. Shepard Smith said on Faux News tonight that there is a checkpoint
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 01:35 AM by Pirate Smile
to get out of the city and they are turning people back who walk to it. He said if the people at the Convention Center make the trek to it, they won't let them leave.

Why was the clip from Hannity and Colmes with Shepard and Geraldo (both completely outraged) the first time I've heard that they won't let people leave the city at a checkpoint?

I'm not a tinfoil hat person but after watching that segment on Faux News of all places, ..... I just don't know exactly what to think.

Here's a list of some of the things Dr. Garry has been researching.

The news needs to find out if this lab is intact.

8. Pirate CT meant Conspiracy Theorist, but it was a weird word
to use. Maybe they are afraid of water borne diseases.

12. Thanks for the link - I read just one abstract
and it looks like they do have some viral pathogens in their lab.

It's worth remembering that even labs with pretty innocous stuff (like where I work) have to have disaster plans. I would hope that a place that's at such a high biosafety level would have even better disaster plans.

9. I doubt they have a BSL-4 lab
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 02:00 AM by Angry Girl
Tulane has experts who study Marburg et al. but that doesn't mean the viruses are housed there! Biolevel Safety 4 labs are VERY costly to build and maintain and only a few places in the country have them.

11. There's a large communicable diease center at Tulane; public health...
You bet if they study the disease at Tulane, they have the cultures and the bugs. That's how they're studied.
