7000 prisoners rioted in Orleans parish prison

according to a female law enforcement officer calling in to talk radio right now in baton rouge. she claims that's why the law-abiding citizens were confined to the convention center--so the prisoners could be transported first. who knows if this is true, but if so, it shows how little of the whole story we're getting.

The media have refuted most of these rumors and have explained that they are only slowing down the evacuation because they frighten people for nothing.

There was a hostage situation.
The Mayor said the situation was "tenuous". Homeland Security denied it as a rumor. Right before he said he was in the streets and didn't see ONE dead body.:eyes:
My guess is that the deal was that they would give the hostages up if they were rescued from the floods.
It's all about survival and from what I understood, the water was rising in the cells. They weren't ready to die.
