What would happen if Davis RESIGNED before the election?

I am wondering this - and I'm sure there must be a simple answer to this.

What would happen if Davis resigned, thus handing the governorship to the Lt. Gov (Bustamante)

Wouldn't the recall OF DAVIS be short circuited by such a move?

Everything goes on as planned. I'm happy he didn't resign. It would have really made our laws and our State nothing more than a seaport and convenient source of tax income for BFEE and PNAC. That may still happen, but at least we tried to fight it.

3. the elections would go ahead

the elections would still go ahead. just like with arianna, bill simon, and others who dropped out, but would still have names on the ballots. it will go ahead as scheduled and if davis is recalled then whoever wins the second part becomes governor. if recall does not pass and davis had resigned before, then bustamante is governor.

One more time. Once the recall was certified the vote goes on. A Davis resignation after the recall was certified would put Bustamante in the Governor's seat until the recall election only.
