http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/stlouiscitycounty/story/009195E9D3F466DE86257071001768E6?OpenDocumentMost of the article is wonderful news but after the prison like atmosphere in NO I cringed when I read this:
Plumbers and electricians are working to convert the abandoned Gumbo jail in Chesterfield to an emergency shelter...Most St. Louisans know this place. It's surrounded by fences with razor wire in a flood zone. Sure the levees they built after the '93 flood have kept the area safe but the irony is just too much right now.
I'm sorry but a stifling cynicism has overcome me. I've got hope but I'm not the same person I was a week ago. Neither are most of us, I know.
Justa babblin'.
