Iraq is in the toilet, price-gouging is getting worse, unhappiness is growing by leaps and bounds, BushCo's numbers are following close behind Iraq as it makes its way into to septic system.

So, when the hurricane hit, BushCo saw a heaven-sent opportunity to restore their fortunes. Just let the situation deteriorate awhile to fixate everyone's attention...and then let Bush play hero for the camera again. Because of everything pressing in on them, people have a short attention span and no spare braincells with which to do deep analysis, so the emotional relief of finally having forces working on the disaster gives smirking Bush and BushCo a big post-hoc-ergo-propter-hoc numbers boost.
