I Stand humbled by the people at the Superdome. |

They got there any way they could. WIthout violence; helping one another.
They stayed there through the hurricane with a minimal amount of violence. All the while many were helping others.
They stayed there through the heat and the stench and the crying and the screaming and the few bad people and the suicide and the death.
Still they did not riot; did not hurt each other or the media or the police or the military.Whilst their babies were dying and their grandmas were slipping away in silence.
When the buses finally came; they LINED UP IN AN ORDERLY FASHION and boarded them. Helping each other onto the bus; letting the most needy go first.
We are going on day six of their interment. When the last 2000 were told they would probably not get out until Sun.; they SAT DOWN QUIETLY TO WAIT.
They are better people than me. They are the best of humanity in action. I bow before their strength; I am not worthy. I stand in awe of their spirit. Surely grace follows where they go.

That these people have been slandered as looting, lawless criminals, who could "riot at any minute!!!" is a disgrace.

5. Amend that to "most of them" and I'll wholeheartedly agree. |
|
In any given population, there'll be a negative element. That was as true at the Superdome as anyplace else.

7. I too am in awe of their spirit and patience.... |

They're not asking for much, maybe a little safe water and a pathetic military MRE. They have maintained as much human dignity as is possible in such horrific conditions.
They have my respect.
