The NO situation is 'empowering' racists
I don't know if empowering is the right word - there's probably a better one, but it's the best I can come up with at this hour.

When I read news articles on Yahoo I often check out the discussion board pertaining to the article. I've been doing this since Yahoo has been around... so I guess at least for the last 6 years...

Anyway tonight I was reading the message board for the recent news article on the SuperDome and I couldn't believe the number of posts that were using the "N" word and the "J" word that starts with Jig... in reference to America's African American brothers and sisters.

I've never seen posts littered with such blatant racism and such horrible racist slurs during the whole time I've frequented these boards. It's like these jerkoff's have a pass at anything goes now...

These people are a cancer on America's soul. How can people respond like that to their fellow man? This is a such a major catastrophy for America and these people are using events as a license to broadcast their prejudices.

All I can feel is empathy... and it infuriates me to see these posts.

2. Condi is enabling racism
There. I said it. If that makes me a racist then I'm the biggest fucking bigot in the South. She enables the "he's got more blacks in his administration than Bill Clinton" old saw to continue. If your out there Condi, you are a slunt. Go to Hell, slunt.

3. They are all in a frenzy, aren't they?
It's disgusting how they are trying to use this situation to stir up racial animosity. They want to start a race war, but just like Bush and his big misadventure, none of them has actually thought it through for more than a minute.

When the stories of the law abiding citizens left stranded at the Superdome and elsewher accross the city start to replace the images of looting and shooting, people will be as angry at the racists as at Bush, and the two will forever be linked.

4. Not surprising considering the coverage.
It really seemed racially slanted from the beginning. I hate to think it was meant to provoke that effect.

5. I think that
all that Republican stuff about gay marriage, "diversity," etc. is just a smoke screen for racism. They say "gay", they whisper "black."

6. Emboldening is probably the word you were looking for?
Yep, it's amazing that in times of crisis all the cockroaches come crawling out of the wordwork. Not only that, but the thinly veiled racism you wouldn't expect from a lot of people comes oozing to the surface. It's frightening to think we haven't come a very long way at all.
