How are we going to survive another 3 1/2 years of George Bush?
It's almost unbearable to think about it. How are we as a nation going to survive this, folks? Just look what this man and his cabal of evil have managed to do to this country and nations around the globe in a short 4 1/2 years. We're barely halfway through his reign of terror. I feel as if we're caught in a riptide of corruption and chaos.

1. We were talking about that last night at the dinner table. It is sobering
to realize that we still have that much time left till the next national election. Dems need to pull the rabbit out of the hat in 06 or the nation is truly screwed.

6. And what's even more frightening...
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 06:53 AM by theHandpuppet
... is that any "moderating" influences (as pitiful as they were) which may have kept Bush and the PNACers "in check" ie, his re-election, are now off the table. There seems to be nothing at risk for him anymore, so he will do exactly as he pleases for there will be no personal consequences.

28. We were too
I have no idea how we're going to survive. My daughter will be 18 when he leaves office. It is terrifying to think what awaits my children and all of our children. We don't even say his name in our house- it is a profanity. I wish I knew what to do.

3. The only positive thing I can surmise from...
... the current situation is that, at least, we're on the downhill side of his term in office.

I try not to think too much about what else can happen.

5. What about impeachment?
Seriously, we need to remove this man from office NOW. And the posse that rode with him.

12. But then doesn't Cheney take over?
If we impeach, doesn't Cheney take over? (Not that he isn't already in charge, along with Rove.) Six of one, half dozen of the other.
We have to be real. The guy won't be impeached. Better to work RIGHT NOW to give the R's an electoral thrashing in every office at every level and also in every local and state progressive referendum initiative this year, in '06, '07, and especially '08!

15. The invisible VP?
Honestly, where has he been hiding for the past few weeks? When was he last seen publically? I have my doubts that Cheney's in any condition to take over anything.

2006 mid terms is the real hope to derail the Neo-con (in collusion with RW fundies) agenda.

16. Doesn't that have to be done by Congress?
Can you really see the Republicans in Congress voting to impeach him? It means waiting until the 2006 elections at least.

7. God help me, but I have a fantasy of
crowds of people he has wronged chasing that sorry-assed chickenhawk weaselly fratboy cheerleading megalomanical war criminal down endless street only to catch him and do just that. God can't come up with a punishment big enough to redress the sins of this man.

8. His presidency is the low point of American history.
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 07:07 AM by mwb970
The destruction Bush has wrought on our country, its citizens, and its values is immeasurable. For four years, reading the daily paper has been a nightmare of "My God, what has he done now?"

No aspect of America's greatness has been left unstained. No terrorist group could bring down this great nation as effectively as this little runt has. Pathetic, isn't it?

11. "DON'T BLAME ME, I VOTED FOR KERRY!" is what to shout!
Sorry to have to say it this way, but someone has to say that since millions of people bought the Bush-Rove-right-wing BS and voted him back in, let them have it right in the rear end! Maybe if those people are finally brought down on their knees half starving and crawling through free food lines, doing all of their shopping at GoodWill, going to soldiers' funerals on a daily basis, going bankrupt, having their cars and homes repossessed, getting thrown off their family farms, working for slave wages with no benefits, and having to choose between groceries and gasoline they will finally wake up and realize what we have in that federal government: a White House and R Congress intent on making the fat rich ever richer and ever more powerful while the rest of us are reduced to dirt. Sadly, all of those who didn't vote for Bush and Co. have to suffer too, but that's the hard pill to swallow. This is easily the worst administration since Nixon and perhaps much worse. So yes, work to wake up all the people who have been buying the Bush and Co. BS, give the corporate-controlled R's a thrashing in '06 and '08, and get pols in there who actually care about people! In the meantime, go online and get your "Don't Blame Me, I Voted For Kerry"
t-shirts and bumper stickers.

13. What Good Does That Do?
It does nothing to say I made the right decision but I was over ridden by idiots.

The only way to put this country on the right track is to get that son of a bitch impeached. Don't worry about Cheney, he will be the lamest duck that ever held a seat in the White House.

Forget the impeachment fantasy, and Cheney would be just as bad anyway.
Not gonna happen! Put your energy into the next elections.

T-shirts and bumper stickers and maybe we'll finally have a believable count for the last election. God knows we didn't get it, last year!

NOTE: This question should have been asked later in the day when it wouldn't upset our stomachs quite as much as early in the morning! x(

21. I don't think we have to worry about that.
We are now in post-Katrina America. If Bush's Presidency survives, it won't matter. It will be the Republican Congress calling the shots for the next 18 months - and they'll tread carefully starting in a couple of weeks; and a Democratic Congress calling the shots beginning January, 2007. The best thing that Bush could do for Republicans at this point is apologize and resign. He'll do neither, of course, since such decency and responsibility is beyond his feeble abilities.

However, with the corrupt republicans still in Congress, I just don't know. At what point will they tip to doing at least the minimally right things?
