No gas in my town in Volusia County, FL. The next town over had some last night, but they were limiting customers to 20 gallons. This should be fun.

Anybody else having a hard time finding gas?

The cheaper gas stations are out of all gas except premium. I had thought it was probably because everyone here just filled up all our gas gans and cars before Katrina came through this way. (Which it is somehow hard to believe was only a week and a day ago.)

But if there's no gas tomorrow, I'll begin to watch for people rioting. You know, smoke and such from the convenience store up the road. :)

A co-worker yesterday told me she tried to get gas at 3 stations and was turned away because they had none and at the 3rd she asked when they'd be getting some and the manager said he seriously doesn't have any idea. At the 4th place, she was able to get gasoline, but they limited her. I don't know how much she was allowed to get.

Also, she luckily has a garage or she wouldn't have made it to the gas station yesterday. When she came outside in the morning, there were police everywhere and she asked her neighbor what was going on. The entire street had been hit by someone who siphoned everyone's gasoline.

I don't have a garage!

11. My Company received this conservation request from FL Dept of Mgt Srvcs

Dear xxx
The damage Hurricane Katrina did to natural gas and gasoline production and distribution facilities will place a strain on our electricity providers and on our gasoline supplies.

As one of Florida's largest employers, effective immediately, we are leading by example and implementing energy conservation measures at all Department of Management Services Facilities around the state.

As a partner with the State of Florida, we request that you implement similar measures at your place of business. By taking these relatively small actions, your company can contribute significantly to hurricane relief efforts.

We are asking that you implement the following guidelines:

1. Turn off and unplug all non-essential equipment.

2. Turn off and unplug all non-essential, personal appliances, including microwave ovens, coffee pots, refrigerators, toaster ovens, etc. (exceptions are those devices that serve in central locations such as break rooms).

3. Turn off all lights, computers and office equipment at night.
4. If applicable and safe, turn off overhead lighting during the day.
5. Adjust air conditioning thermostats slightly upward.
6. Evaluate and adjust travel plans.
7. Use hybrid vehicles when possible.
8. If applicable, evaluate and implement opportunities for employees to telecommute.

Your employees can also assist by applying similar guidelines at home. Turning off air conditioning when leaving for work; keeping lights off when no one is in a room and using ceiling fans go a long way. We also have suggested conserving gasoline by reducing the number of trips and carpooling.

12. Palm Beach cty- 2 visits to gas stations (ran out) before I could fill up

I can look around Delray for you, if you want. As of yesterday, I know the Gas One station on Atlantic just west of 95 still had gas. No clue if they have any of the Regular, etc, but everyone was filling up when I went by.

There's others here, if you need me to go look. I'm not doing much right now anyway :)

14. Canada is releasing 91 million gallons of our reserve to go to the

US to try and relief the need:

Conservation needed to keep PM's promise to provide more energy to U.S.


"The loss of production in the Gulf of Mexico and considerable damage to oil refining and transportation infrastructure constitute a serious disruption of supplies," the agency said in a release.

It's estimated Katrina shut down 90 per cent of production facilities in the area.

Canada's share of the voluntary commitment is 91,000 barrels of oil per day.

Ottawa believes Canada will be able to increase the flow of oil and refined products to the United States mainly because higher gasoline prices will encourage less consumption.

"As a major energy producer, Canada has the ability, and the obligation, to be a part of this important effort," Natural Resources Minister John Efford said in a release.
