I found this article. I'll bet they just love Trippy McFallsalot right now.

National Guard Troops In Iraq Stunned By Devastation At Home

POSTED: 8:18 am EDT August 31, 2005

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Ever since Hurricane Katrina roared ashore, National Guard troops from Gulf coast states serving in Iraq have followed the disaster unfolding on television sets, worried about families and friends back home.

"It's a significant emotional event. Their families are on the forefront of the disaster," said Lt. Col. Jordan Jones of the 141st Field Artillery of the Louisiana National Guard. ...

"It's hard, a lot of soldiers are watching this play-by-play, they're having a hard time," said Lt. Taysha Deaton, a spokeswoman for the unit.

2. The repugs will have a hard time convincing us that the troops
voted for them in the next election. That dog won't hunt!

3. This has to be hurting moral more than anything
else anyone has said or done since the war began. I just can't imagine how difficult it must be for them being so far away and unable to to anything.

PS... I know this is no laughing matter, but 'Trippy McFallsalot' just cracked me up. Thanks. Every chance to release some steam through laughter is a good one. Do you mind if I use that in the future?

4. I would wager that there is a lot of anger and....
frustration among soldiers who come from La. or who are La. NG.

usually their familes are concerned for them.... now it's the other way around.

I couldn't imagine having a loved one in that convention center and being so far away.

5. Imagine finding out your entire family's died--could spark a mutiny.

6. Rachel Maddow interviewed an embedded reporter yesterday...
He is with a unit from Louisiana. One member of the Guard recognized his neighborhood on TV then realized his own house was under water.

This is why most of the people signed up: To help neighbors in a disaster. Now the disaster is happening and they are watching on TV, while leaders back home talk about bringing in soldiers from other states.

They're pissed but they are still military and speaking out against Great Leader will end up with them on the wrong end of a court martial.
