I just LOVE Craig and his people. THey are so awesome :loveya:

The "temporary employment" section is much-needed. Examples:

HAIR Stylists
We are offering job positions to talented HAIR STYLISTS that where directly effected by Hurricane Katrina. We are located in ___ Pennsylvania. ___is an upscale business in a town of about 160,000. We are a ____Salon. <snip> We will help in any way we can. Such as getting you here and/or setting you up with a place to live. Begin again and start your career over with us!

Construction Jobs in Tampa, Florida
Geotechnical construction company is seeking employees wishing to relocate. There are available rentals in the area. Steady work and great enviorment.

Displaced oil workers from Katrina.
I am not an employer but Eastern Utah is having an oil and natural gas boom. They can't hire enough people. If you are displaced from Katrina and are looking for work you might want to check it out. Here is a link. Sorry I do not have any contact information with the oil companies. Just wanted to let you know of some opportunities.
Good luck. <link snipped>

Excellent anesthesiologist position for dr. displaced by Katrina
Knowing that many/most of the doctors in N.O. have little work future at this point, our young group in Jefferson City, Missouri (the state capitol) has an available spot for a fifth anesthesiologist with some interest in doing hearts (perhaps 2 days/week) and a VERY short partnership track. You could start Jan.1, and relocation/home financing, etc. is an area the hospital and local banks have been very generous with <snip more>

1. Anyone know how to contact the media with this??

Katrina survivors need 'net access

from Jim Buckmaster, my CEO, who really runs craigslist:

as are other sites, craigslist is receiving a massive and still escalating volume of offers of free temporary housing for katrina victims.

we're concerned at this point that these offers will not reach victims due to the seeming lack of computing facilities arranged for the neediest victims at the shelters -- 40 computer stations for 10,000 victims at the astrodome seems grossly inadequate -- and are wondering what else is being done to give victims internet access so that they can connect with the many thousands of amazingly generous US citizens who are looking to do what our government seemingly cannot, at least in a timely fashion.

if there are efforts underway that any of you are aware of to provide large numbers of internet terminals to the neediest victims, please make it known to the media, as we've not seen such reports, and have been looking pretty hard.
