He rocks! CNN (Miles O'Brien) has been gushing over him all day. The general (3-star, I think) did a status report earlier this morning with a no-nonsense tick-point list (paraphrasing) "here is what we are going to do 1,2,3,4...over."

They showed some other footage where he shows up and starts yelling at soldiers and cops to sling their weapons and quit pointing them at all the stranded people. To a person, they obeyed.

When I heard about the airlift, my first thought was that this general wasn't just talking about what he was going to do, he's doing it. What a breath of fresh air after all these BS press conferences and back-patting of one anothers' incompetence.

Thank goodness the citizens of NOLA are getting some help. I just wish it had happened sooner. :-(

and she said they were walking down the street and encountered a young African American lady carrying two infants. She was so exhausted, the babies were about to fall out of her arms. He approached her, took the babies and escorted her and another young Mom they found to a Cost Guard Cutter. He ordered them to provide medical help and shelter and transportation for these women. I am impressed.

But...THIS IS TOO WEIRD: WHY, WHY did they all leave tonight? They've locked up all the people at the Convention Center and have established roadblocks to keep people from leaving the city.

1/2 the police have quit, and so there's "a curfew" in the city, I guess because of the danger. But if it's so dangerous, WHY DID THE MILITARY LEAVE?!??
