Since this storm hit New Orleans (and the rest of the area it hit) the media on the ground have gown a spine and called it exactly as they've seen it.

We've all seen or heard of the clips of Geraldo and Shhepard smacking down Hannity. We've all seen or heard the compelling story by that NBC photogapher who spoke about the dead bodies in the convention center, saying he couldn't even bear to film what he saw. We've all seen or heard about Jeane Merserve losing in the air. About Jack Cafferty going off at wolfie.

And it is all understandable. I can't imagine someone being there and not being personally and viscerally affected by it.

And these are smart people (no matter we here on DU say :) ). They **know** what the problems are.

So .... will this new-found ability to reprt the truth and lay accusations where they seem to fit - in short: truth telling - will this new media behavior continue?

I don't think so.

1. The media has already been bolted down again.

The wheels came off the psyops newsroom control operations for some reason during the crisis (mutiny? otherwise occupied? NFI), but they're back to whitewashing it all again.
