We are on our way to Houston...gasoline is outrageous!

My cousin in Houston has agreed to pick up one family of four to house in her home. My family are all chipping in to send her money for food, clothes, and medicine. We all need your prayers and positive thoughts.

1. OK, not on our way to Houston. Advice for others planning the trip

Family in NC and SC have advised us to wait until after Holiday. They are making plans to join us in a family caravan but have to arrange for work schedules and hotel accomodation along the way. This is what I want DUers to know, we could not get reservations at the usual motels and places we stay when we travel south. Most are filled and the ones that aren't have prices so outrageous that it would exhaust all our funds between rooms, food, and gasoline. We had a phone conference call with relatives and now we are all planning to go the week after the holiday. People housed in Houston will still need help for transportation. I am hoping that lots of other families will do something similar. We all just feel so outraged and helpless.
