Quick FEMA question:

How much will FEMA pay to rebuild? I do not have flood insurance and I do not know how much they will pay. (My mortgage company has flood ins on me according to my paperwork but I can not get in touch with them to find out.)

1. It depends on who knows what. I know people that we paid only

to fix their home. Some were paid full price for the home - after a year. Some were paid peanuts.

2. I don't think there are any "guarantees" from FEMA. I was in Ivan.

The FEMA website said they "may" reimburse for insurance deductible.
I applied.
They didn't.
Operative word was "may".
The best they could offer was a "low" interest loan.
I didn't need to take on any debt.
As far as I am concerned, FEMA was useless.

3. Oh yeah...IMPORTANT!!! Do register.

Call FEMA and register anyway.
They'll do a questionaire on the phone.
You'll be given a specific case number.
You must have this first to get anything out of them.
