What about People Still Trapped In Homes?
Finally the Convention Center, Super dome being mass evacuated by Military. Great, by my calculation 3 days LATE. So also by my calculations ...... the people still trapped in their homes with water in the streets above their doors ..... are 3 days behind on ANY mass Military rescue effort for them? I expected to see the air filled with Military Helicopters over the entire city, skipping the neighborhoods out there locating PEOPLE STILL TRAPPED IN THEIR HOMES by now. Have these people been written off by any mass effort on the part of our Government? Out of sight out of mind? Anyone else wonder about this? Prayers and Peace for those still trapped in their homes.

1. I have been wondering also
I have been wondering why they stopped taking people off roofs and out of attics. They are going to find thousands of them dead in their attics. We will probably never know how many died waiting.

3. They've been rescuing those they knew about, I assume

What about those who fled to attics and couldn't break through to the roofs? Is the military going around with heat-seeking cameras to find these people? Will anyone be left alive without food and water after all this time?

This is just heartbreaking. And infuriating!

2. They should have been systematically going house to house days ago
I bet at least 10,000 die and I bet Bushco tries to cover the true numbers up and halt all investigation into the matter citing "National security".

5. Yea we should all mass call the networks .....
tell them to stop patting themselves on the back today, and get on with pushing for the next phase, questioning what will become of those people out in their homes. Where is the mass effort there? Peace.

8. They are likely dead by now....
The sad truth is anyone trapped in there attic without food or water is likely not going to be alive.

9. Well last night Nancy Grace talked to a couple ......
still hold up in their home, they had their bathtub filled with water, some food. But trapped upstairs. So no, there are A LOT of people out there still alive. Yes sad but 'likely dead by now' doesn't cut it. This Military rescue operation should not end with the evacuation of the Convention center and Super Dome. Peace.

11. This morning CNN was running helicopter video shot today
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 12:07 PM by Lindsay
and they were talking to the photographer. They showed two people on an upstairs balcony waving colored flags for help. He said they had to refuel fairly often, and at that point they would tell the guys in charge where to locate any people they saw.

So there are people still alive. Whether there's a lot of rescue, or even searches, going on, I don't know.

on edit: typo. I really should go take a nap!

12. My concern is for the people who can't wave flags
Those trapped in attics with no outlet to outside.

I just imagine the elderly who were only able to make it to the attics and have no windows.

13. Well I see boats out there now on CNN ...
not too many .... scouring for survivors I guess? But then I heard talk about 'mass graves' being planned by the government. So hmmmmm makes ya go hmmmmm, now Chertoff (homeland security dude) talking rescue out there still. Well whata ya know. We shall see. The silence was getting defining. Peace. :)

15. Yea no matter what happens in the Government efforts now ....
that delay was fatal to a lot of people. Incomprehensible from the highest post in the World. President of the US. Some leadership. He is consistent isn't he?
