Al Gore flys into NO. Plans to take 150 critical patients back to TENN.
From CNN:

Al Gore just flew into News Orleans Louie Armstrong Intl. Airport via an American Airlines jet to bring back 150 of the most critically ill patients back to his home state of TENN.

Here is Al Gore doing something constructive and being a true hero while we have GW Bush down there talking about how much he is looking forward to sitting on Trent Lott's new front porch.

Go Al!

His smearing by the press in 2000 was such an outrageous hoax. Now they're finally seeing the damage caused by their stupidity.
I love that man!

28. Me too. Still waiting for the corporate media to apologize.
Some individual media whores could come around. I wonder how they like facing their own complicity in sicking the evil bush family on America,
again?

But enough about them. Back to Al, who is a real human, and I love him too.

44. I got a call from Kerry camp today asking for funds for
child-health care bill. I was sorry to say no - but I did because I needed to use the call to make a point: I will support *nothing* that any Dem does until they stand up for the lives of the people of NOLA (and MISS and ALA). I told them I haven't seen any Senate Dem stand up on this - Kucinich and members of the CBC in the house have, but no Senators. I told him that when I see Kerry screaming at the top of his lungs on the floor of the Senate to save the people of NOLA then and only then will I consider supporting him again.

The man on the phone told me once at the top of the call that it 'may be recorded for quality assurance' -- and when I started ranting about the stolen election of 2004 and the devastation of NOLA he repeated again that the call may be recorded and then I could hear my voice echoing as he recorded me. My final sentence was that if we can't manage to save the people of NOLA then we should all be damned to hell. At that point I was crying and hung up.

I pray that my voice - and those of other Americans who are stunned and shocked and enraged - will be heard.

22. Just wait... the pukes and bush-bots will be all over him...
... for "grandstanding" and "showing up the pResident."

When the fact is, you could wake up in the morning and have a bowl of Corn Flakes and you'd "show up" the pResident.

It's not hard to do. In fact, it's hard to avoid looking like a better human being than Bush, without really trying.

He didn't like him at all back then and wasn't crazy about bush either. He wound up missing that election due to having to go out of town.

He said Al Gore would have been ten times better than the pathetic loser we're stuck with now.

It was reported last night via moof's watching of the Washington Week (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4593583&mesg_id=4593583) that Gore was paying for it out of his own pocket. Now, that is a President and Patriot.

A panelist on Washington Week Tonight reported that a doctor at Charity hospital had operated on Al Gore's son years ago and he had somehow communicated with Al Gore who made arrangements for two American Airlines planes to evacuate patients to hospitals which had agreed to take them. But FEMA would not approve the plan because they can only work with public officials and Al Gore is now a private citizen.

------------------------------

This is the info that was heard last night except for the part about being a private citizen. It sounded like the obstacles were twofold,
1. The patients were not going to be granted a special code number needed to allow transfer under FEMA's watch without authorization and 2. The authorization would have to come from the correct person higher up the food chain.

The inability of Gore to find out the name or position of the person higher up the food chain was the point of the side story added to show how no one seemed to know who talk to to even find out who was in charge of different things.

Anyway it sure seems par for the course that no info or good details are out there on this. Also pretty sure Gloria said it was United Airlines that Gore had lined up pilots from and she mentioned that Gore had lined up beds in several hospitals and mentioned Chicago as being one destination although it seems like maybe there were possibly two attempts made at this rescue and maybe we are only seeing the second attempt succeed.

Anyone feel free to prove moof a googling fool but after what seems hours of searching this is the sum total of the info on it.

Plus, they'd have their national guard and surrounding states so they could help and saved more people. I just love Al Gore. It's men like him that make me proud to be a native of Tennessee! The whole state is doing great with helping with relief. :loveya: Another wonderful example.

56. Why isn't this in more newspapers??????
This is the only one I found it in after doing a Google news search:

http://www.thedailytimes.com/sited/story/html/216543

I think we should email the media and TV stations with this link and demand that they cover it. I know that a while back I saw a message that had a bunch of email addresses to the media, separated by commas, so you could just copy the addresses and paste it into an email. Does anyone have this? If so, please share it with us so we can email this story to the very slowly awakening mainstream media en mass!!!
