ATTENTION DU! Racial Bias Photo Controversy AP vs AFP
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 12:31 PM by xultar
Racial Bias Photo Controversy AP and AFP are different news organizations.
\
AP was the photo with the young Black person

AFP was the photo with the 2 white people.

AP is not responsible for what the AFP prints as captions. They are both news organizations from which feeds originates.

THAT IS ALL...

2. Agence France Presse...
Yahoo withdrew the photo of the light-skinned pair at the request of Agence France Presse, which distributes Getty's U.S-produced photos internationally

7.  You should ask the AP to pull theirs. AFP and AP aren't the same.
AFP had no control over whether or not the AP picture was pulled.

I don't understand why you don't get it. I'm black and should be pissed and even I get it.

3. story less about Yahoo being racist than looting meme
Obviously, the French aren't Bush apologists, but they caught the looting meme that seems to only apply to blacks, not whites.

It reminds me of what Howard Zinn said about the Pilgrims "finding" goods "abandoned" on Indian graves--rather than being called grave-robbers.

5. Whatever they are french. They may not even have a direct translation for
looting.

OMFG.

It isn't Yahoo's fault they are putting up what's on the wire.

9. People aren't getting it. I'm black and should be pissed and I get it.
People are pushing the irrational anger angle. I don't want us to use our energy for anger I't rater we use it to clean out our closets and get out and help folk.

As soon as I get the message of where my adopted families are I'm logging of and going to help.

11. Do you also get it that the people are repeatedly being called
refugees by the media? They are survivors! Not looters or refugees. I understand your point about two different news organizations, but you have to admit that the verbiage is inappropriate from many sources, no?

15. That's because this dubious accusation is actually a white thing.
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 05:58 PM by LoZoccolo
It's how insecure white people try to prove to themselves they are not racist from the comfort of their computer desks (as opposed to participating in society).

14. We really don't know if those two in the pic were actually white.
This was southern Louisiana. A lot of black folks out there look white. I can attest to that. :-)
