The utter failure of the Reagan agenda

The conservatives believed that if you took government away, everything would work out better. And since 1982, their approach has largely ruled. The result? The horrible things going on in New Orleans. Without a social system that teaches people how to think, behave, and succeed, one generation passes on to the next its social flaws.

What we see in New Orleans is the failed policies of those who oppose affirmative action, Head Start, and numerous other programs designed to lift people up.

I don't support the looters who are stealing cars, televisions, etc. But I don't support anyone who doesn't have the brains or decency or integrity to realize that we wouldn't have come to this if not for the actions of the current 'government' in power.

Hell, a lot of this would have been prevented if some effort to make arrangements for food and water being sent to NO before the hurricane have been made. But nope, nothing was done to try to mitigate the damage and chaos that the coming storm was certain to bring. Everyone knew, it was broadcast for days before the storm hit, how bad it was going to be. There is no excuse for no food or water being dropped to the hurricane victims by air immediately after the storm. Unless the need for a photo op for bush** qualifies as justification for this government's neglect of the citizens of NO who couldn't get out.
